Stay With Qur'An
Companions of the Prophet Memorization of the Qur'an

Ubay bin Ka'ab was one of the companions of Prophet Muhammad SAW. Ubay was a friend who was able to memorize the Qur'an. He is believed to be the secretary of the Prophet for the writing of the revelations and letters of the Prophet.

Ubay was a friend of the Anshar tribe of Khazraj. Ubayy was always on the side of the Prophet. He participated in the Bai'at Aqabah, the Battle of Badr, and other wars.

Ubay was also a friend who feared Allah SWT. He cried every time he called God. Those who heard Ubay reading the Qur'an also cried.

The Qur'an first descended on Prophet Muhammad SAW in the Cave of Hira on 17 Ramadan. This event is known as the nuzul al-Quran. Since then the Qur'an has gradually fallen. The first verse to come down is Surat Al-Alaq verses 1-5. Every time the Prophet Muhammad received a revelation, he spread and taught the Qur'an to his companions and other Muslims.

One day, the Prophet said to Ubay.

"O Ubay bin Ka'ab, I am commanded to show you the Qur'an" Ubay said, as quoted from Biography 60 Sahabat Rasulullah SAW by Khalid Muhammad Khalid.

Hearing the Prophet's words, Ubay was curious to ask

"O Messenger of Allah, is my name called to you?" ask Ubay

The Prophet replied that Ubay was called a resident of the sky.

"True, your name and nasabmu (mentioned) in the inhabitants of the sky," said Prophet Muhammad.

During his life, Ubay was also known as a role model. Umar bin Khattab once said, Change is a Muslim lord.

"At the time of death, many Muslims filled the streets carrying the body of Ubay bin Ka'ab," wrote Mahmil Mastur in the Encyclopedia Series of Muslim Children, 125 Companions of Prophet Muhammad SAW.

Ubay bin Kaab has always held to piety and zuhud against the world, so as not to be influenced and beguiled. Because he always sees the essence of something at the end of its end. As well as human life.

However he swam upon the sea of pleasure and the scene of luxury, but surely he met death where everything would turn to dust, in front of him there is nothing to be seen except the result of his good or bad deeds.

Regarding the world, Ubay once described it as follows, “Truly the food of man himself, can be taken as a parable for the world. It says good or not, but what is important to be?”

When Ubay RA speaks in front of a crowd, then all the necks will be outstretched and the ears are equally attached, because they are equally dazzled and captivated, he said, for when he speaks of the religion of God there is no one to fear, and no shrimp behind a rock.

When the territory of Islam had expanded, and he saw some Muslims beginning to deviate with a lick to their princes, he appeared and took off his sharp words, “Okay them, for God's sake! They are wretched and doom! But I do not regret seeing their fate, I only imagine that Muslims are wretched by them!”

Because of his piety and his fear, Ubayy wept every day remembering God and the last day. The verses of the Qur'anul Karim, whether they are read or heard, are all heart-wrenching and all their joints.

But a verse between those glorious verses, if read or heard by it, will cause it to be overcome with indescribable sorrow. The verse reads, “Say, He (God) Power will send you torment, either from above or from under your feet, or unite you in a division and befallen Him to you the deeds of his own friends.” (QS. Al-An’am: 65).

What Ubay was most worried about Muslims was the coming of a generation of people who were disputing each other. He always asked God for His salvation, His grace and mercy, Ubayy got it. He faces Allah in a state of faith, peace and grace.
