Grandchildren of Prophet Muhammad SAW


Prophet Muhammad SAW has 11 wives and 7 children consisting of three sons (Sons) and four daughters (daughters). They are Qasim bin Muhammad, Zainab bint Muhammad, Ruqayyah bint Muhammad, Umm Kulthum bint Muhammad, Fatimah az-Zahra, Abdullah bin Muhammad, and Ibrahim bin Muhammad.


From Zainab, the Prophet Muhammad had a grandson named Umamah bint Abu al-Ash. While from Ruqayah the Prophet Muhammad got a grandson named Abdullah bin Umar. From Fatimah az-Zahra the Prophet had 4 grandchildren, namely Hasan, Husen, Zainab and Umu Kulsum.

Umamah bint Abu al-Ash is the son of Abu al-Ash and Zainab bint Muhammad (the eldest daughter of Prophet Muhammad SAW). Zainab was the daughter of the prophet's wife Khadijah Bint Khuwailid). Umamah is listed as one of the Companions of the Prophet.


Umamah is a grandson who in a story is told to be carried by the Prophet, who was then married by Ali bin Abu Talib after the death of Fatimah Az Zahra. Umamah and Ali ibn Abu Talib had a son, Muhammad "al-Wusto". Umamah died in 670 (50 AH).


Hasan was the son of Ali ibn Abu Talib and Fatimah bint Muhammad (Fatimah al-Zahra). He is from Bani Hashim. His name was Hasan bin Ali bin Abi Talib bin Abdul Muttalib bin Hashim bin Abdu Manaf bin Qushay. His lineage reached Ismail alaihissalam. He is the grandson of Rasulullah shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam. His mother was named Fatimah az Zahra bint Prophet Muhammad shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam. His name was Abu Muhammad. There are five siblings, namely Hasan, Husein, Muhsin, Zainab and Umm Kaltsum.


Hasan and Husein are the Apostles most beloved grandchildren. Hasan was the first grandson of the Prophet, he was born in the middle of Ramadan in the year 3 of Hijri. The happy news of Hasan's birth made Prophet Muhammad very happy. Because there will be a next generation of struggle and his descendants.


Husain bin ‘Ali bin Abi Thalib (3 Sesame 4 H - 10 Muharram 61 H; 8 January 626 - 10 October 680 AD) was the grandson of Prophet Muhammad who was the son of Fatimah az-Zahra and Ali ibn Abi Talib. He is an Imam among the priests of Ahlu Sunnah, having a noble position on the side of the Prophet Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam and very much in love with him, Kun-yahya Abu ‘Abdillah. He was martyred at the Battle of Karbala in 680 AD.


Husayn was born 5 Sya’ban fourth year of Hijriyah (three years after Hijrah) to Medina (626 AD). the distance between him and Hasan, his brother, and his brother, according to some scholars is a one-time holy period plus the period of pregnancy. Husayn was the second grandson of Muhammad. Initially Ali ibn Abi Talib gave the name with Ja'far referring to his brother, according to another history also named Harb. But his grandfather Prophet Muhammad changed him to Husayn. This name was not prevalent in Arab society at that time, nor did the name connote war but a good name, meaning sublime and showing beauty. Some of the Islamic rituals during Husain's birth were performed including the Prophet Muhammad himself who offered in the ears Husain, Tabrik and Tahnik, hair shaving, Husain was circumcised on the seventh day of his birth, including doing akikah with a goat.


Zainab bint Ali (l. 5 H/626 or 6 H/627 – w. 62 H/681) was the daughter of the fourth Rashidun Khulafaur, Ali ibn Abi Talib and grandson of Prophet Muhammad SAW through her son Fatimah az-Zahra. In the view of Islam he is a great man.


Zainab married Abdullah son of Ja’far ath-Thayyar in 17 A. D. In some sources it is stated that four sons by the names of Ali, Aun, Abbas, Mohammad and a daughter named Umm Kulthum, have been recorded as sons of Zainab and Abdullah. Aun and Muhammad were martyred in the tragedy of Karbala, the descendants of Ali's sons called Zainabiyuns.


He died on Sunday the 15th of Rajab in 62 A. D. Some believe that he died on 14 Rajab. There are three views on the burial place of Sayidah Zainab, namely in Sham, Egypt, and Baqi Cemetery.


Umm Kulthum bint Ali (born in 7 Hijriyah) was the fourth daughter of Ali ibn Abu Talib with Fatimah az-Zahra, daughter of Prophet Muhammad. Umm Kulthum was the first person to convert to Islam among children.


Umar ibn Khattab married Umm Kulthum in the month of Dzuqa’dah in 17 Hijriyah. They lived together until ‘Umar was killed. From the wedding, they had two children, Zaid bin ‘Umar Al-Akbar and Ruqayyah bint ‘Umar.


When ‘Umar is killed, be Umm Kulthum as a widow. When Umm Kulthum died, Ibn ‘Umar saluted him. Similarly, his son Zayd stood beside him. They have been filthy four times.


Abdullah bin Umar bin Khattab or often called Abdullah bin Umar or Ibn Umar alone (born 612 - died 693/696 or 72/73 H) was a friend of the Prophet and was a famous narrator of the hadith. He was the son of Umar ibn Khattab and Ruqayyah, one of the main companions of Prophet Muhammad and the second Rashidun Khulafaur. He converted to Islam at the age of 10 with his father and joined the hijrah to Medina.


After the death of Caliph Usman bin Affan, a group of Muslims forced him to become caliph. Abdullah bin Umar rejected it for peace. His love for peace and unity made him stay away from the political strife at that time. He refused to be nominated as a kholifah for fear of bloodshed among the Muslims.


Ibn Umar died in 73 H/692 at the age of 84 years and was buried in the Cemetery of Muhajirin in an area called Fakhkh.


Muhsin bin Ali was the son of Fatimah bint Muhammad and Ali ibn Abi Talib. He was the fifth child of Ali bin Abu Talib and Sayidah Fatimah who at the age of six months of pregnancy miscarried, when there was an attack on Ali's house.
