Mu'adz bin Amr bin Jamuh, Child Troop Successfully Overthrow Abu Jahl
Muadz bin Amr bin Jamuh, was only fourteen years old. However, with enthusiasm both of them rushed to join the army of Muslims who were about to leave for the valley of Badr.
This young man had good fortune because his body looked strong and his age looked relatively more mature. So the Prophet received it into the squad of the Muslim army that will fight against the polytheists in the battle of Badr. Although he was very young, his ambition was much greater and greater than the ambitions of the parents or other men.
From Abdurrahman bin Auf in Shahih Al-Bukhari, he describes the very miraculous attitude and actions of this brave young man. Abdurrahman bin Auf,
“In the Battle of Badr, I was in the middle of the ranks of the Mujahideen. When I turned my head, it turned out that on my left and right there were two young people. As if I can't guarantee they'll survive in that position.”
The two young men were Muadz bin Amr bin Jamuh and Muawwidz bin Afra’. Abdurrahman bin Auf was very surprised to see the existence of these two young people in a very dangerous war such as the battle of Badr. Abdurrahman was worried that they would not get help or help from those around them, due to their young age.
Then Abdurrahman bin Auf continued his story in amazement,
“Suddenly one of these two young men whispered to me, ‘O Uncle, which one is Abu Jahl?” The young man who said this was Muadz bin Amr bin Jamuh. He was from among Anshar and had never seen Abu Jahl before. The question of the commander of the army of the polytheists, the tyrant full of evil in the city of Mecca and “Fir’aun this ummah”, attracted the attention of Abdurrahman bin Auf. Then he asked the young man earlier, “Oh my brother's son, what are you going to do with him?”
Muadz bin Amr bin Jamuh said, “I got the news that he was the one who had berated the Prophet. By Allah, my soul is in His grasp! If I see him, my pupils will not blink looking at his eyes until one of us first died (sneaky).”
O Allah, how strong and strong is the attitude of this young man! A young man who lived in Medina. When he heard that there were people who berated the Prophet in the city of Mecca, which was almost 500 km from where he lived, embers of anger raged in his heart and the spirit of wanting to defend the Prophet was burning in his soul.
He also vowed to do something that could defend his beliefs, self-esteem and religious sanctuaries. And that opportunity came when the war raged, that is when Allah SWT took Abu Jahl to the valley of Badr. So he promised that he would kill him himself.
Truly, this young man swore that if he saw Abu Jahl, he would not leave him alone until one of them died. He did not feel enough just to achieve the goal of participating in the battle of Badr and perform the noble task assigned to him.
It is not enough to fulfill his dream of killing someone from the army of the polytheists alone. However, his main ambition, his future dream, his target and his life goal; is that he must kill the evil one and this despot (Abu Jahl). Despite his ransom, he will be martyred in the way of Allah.
Of course, this is not an ordinary attitude. It's a really amazing attitude. Even Abdurrahman bin Auf himself said, “I was amazed by it.” But the astonishment and astonishment of Abdurrahman bin Auf has not stopped there. Muadz bin Amr bin Jamuh was not the only young man rarely found in the ranks of the Muslim army. He had a godly peer and was the same age or a little younger than him. This youngster was also competing with him in the same.
Seeing Abu Jahl, the blood of the anger of these two young heroes was burning. Their unanimous determination is more determined to realize a very noble task, which is always stretched in their dreams and minds.
Abdurrahman bin Auf said, “Another young man (Muawwidz bin Afra’) yelled at me and said the same thing.” Then Abdrurahman continued his story, “Tiba suddenly I saw Abu Jahl walking in the middle of the crowd. I said, “Didn't you guys see that guy? He is the person you just asked me!”
Seeing Abu Jahl, the blood of the anger of these two young heroes was burning. Their unanimous determination is more determined to realize a very noble task, which is always stretched in their dreams and minds.
Muadz bin Amr bin Jamuh said, “I heard the polytheists say, ‘no one from the army of the Muslims can touch Al-Hakam (Mother Jahal)’.” At that time, Abu Jahl was in the middle of tight control like a shady tree.
Abu Jahl, the leading commander of the Quraysh, came in a convoy of executioners and strong men like a thick forest. They protect and defend him. He was a symbol of disbelief and commander of the war forces, so it was certain that the strongest battalion forces in the city of Mecca were deployed to protect and defend him.
In addition, the polytheists also call each other, “Beware, lest our leader and commander (Abu Jahal) be killed!”
Although Abu Jahl was protected in such a way and his escort was very strict, but it did not prevent Muadz bin Amr bin Jamuh to keep his determination, carry out his duties, he said, and realize the sacred ideals in his life.
Muadz bin Amr bin Jamuh said, “When I listened to those words, I became more determined. I focused on approaching him. When the time came, I went straight to him and struck a sword at him until half his legs (calf) were cut off.”
He was able to cut off Abu Jahl's calf with just one punch. Abu Jahl was under very strict protection and escort from the army of the polytheists. He has really realized his dream all along. His heart is peaceful, and he has succeeded in taking revenge for the Prophet's sake.
Muadz bin Amr bin Jamuh said, “At the war (Badar), his son (Abu Jahal), said, Ikrimah - at that time he was still a – idol slashed my arm with his sword until it was almost cut off and just depended on his skin.”
Muadz bin Amr bin Jamuh continued his story,
“On that day, I actually fought a full day's war. My hand that was about to break was just hanging on the back. And when he made it difficult for me, I stepped on him with my foot, then I pulled him until my hand was cut off.”
Then Muawwidz bin Afra’ passed in front of Abu Jahl who was severely wounded, then he slashed him with a sword. Then left him in a stupefied state with his last breath.
Muawwidz ibn Afra’ slashed Abu Jahl with a sword while he was in the midst of a crowd of his guards and protectors. However, he managed to beat Abu Jahl to the ground like a helpless man, but he still had the remains of his last breath. Then Abdullah bin Mas’ud came to kill Abu Jahl.
Then Muadz bin Amr bin Jamuh and Muawwidz bin Afra’ came to meet the Prophet SAW. Each said, “I have killed Abu Jahl, O Messenger of Allah!”
So the Prophet asked both of them as in the history of Al Bukhari and Muslim, “Have you erased (the blood that sticks to) your sword?“ they both replied, “Not yet.” He saw both swords. Then he said, “You two have killed him.” The Prophet saw considered that they both obtained the same value and series.
