Stay With Qur'An

Stay With Qur'An
Have Extraordinary Thoughts

Miqdad bin Amr hails from an Arab tribe, Bahra part of the Banu Qudha’ah or Hadramaut from Yemen. He fled his tribe and stayed in Mecca after injuring someone.

In Mecca, Miqdad belongs to al-Aswad Al-Kindi. Miqdad bin Amr was a very brave young man when he went to Mecca. To the brave and strong-loving Arabs, Aswad Al-Kindi had no children, so one day he stood in the midst of all the Quraysh and said,

“I declare that from today, Miqdad is my son, and his name is now Miqdad bin Al-Aswad al.” -Kindi he will inherit me when I die” So people started calling him Miqdad bin Aswad al-Kindi instead of Miqdad bin Amr.

This is the Arab way of expressing love for someone. Islam rose from the top of Hilla. Miqdad bin Aswad al-Kindi was 24 years old when he heard about the mission of the Prophet Muhammad he went straight to the Prophet. The story of Miqdan bin Amr always gives a picture to us human beings, especially Muslims to always think and thank His gift.

The story of Miqdad bin Amr also gives us the lesson of how faithfulness and love for his religion are above all else.

Miqdad bin Amr, his close friends and companions said: “The first one who led his horse to fight in the way of Allah was Miqdad bin Al-Aswad”. The Miqdad bin Al-Aswad they point to is our picture of Miqdad bin Amr.

Miqdad was one of a group of people who converted to Islam earlier than his entourage, and was the seventh openly Muslim, and angered at the cruelty of the Quraysh.

Miqdad lived off the courage of the knights and the good fortune of the faithful. Abdullah bin Mas’ud, another friend of the Prophet, said, “I have witnessed Miqdad's struggle, so I would rather be his friend than all that this country has.”

The day that begins with this tension is when the Quraysh come with their tremendous strength, with their tenacious zeal and determination, with their arrogance and arrogance.

On that day, the number of Muslims was few and they had never fought in defense of Islam before, and this was the first war they had to face.

The prophet Shallallah alayhi Wassalam tested the faith of his followers and tested their readiness to face the incoming enemy soldiers, both infantry and cavalry.

Friends are welcome to chat, they know that if he asks for their opinions and thoughts, it means he is facing a precarious situation.

Miqdad bin Amr feared that some Muslims would have difficulty fighting, so before anyone spoke, Miqdad wanted them to say sentences that would certainly encourage and also participate in the formation of public opinion.

However, before he moved his lips, Abu Bakr Ash-Siddiq spoke before him with very impressive words, until Miqdad bin Amr's heart became serene because of it. Then Umar bin Al-Khatthab spoke with a beautiful expression.

Now it is Miqdad bin Amr's turn to speak, “O Messenger of Allah, do what Allah has commanded, and we will be with you. By Allah we will not say as the Children of Israel said to Moses, ‘Go and fight with your Lord, while we will sit and wait here.’

But we will tell you, ‘Go and fight with your Lord, and we fight with you.’ By the One who sent you brings the truth! Had you led us into the sea of mud, we would have fought with you steadfastly until we reached our destination, and we would have fought on your right and on your left, in the front and in the back, until God gives you victory.”

The words came out like bullets fired. And the face of the Prophet Shallallahu Alaihi Wassalam beamed for it, while his mouth whispered a lucky prayer for Miqdad.

His strong words aroused a spirit of heroism among a group of believers, even with their strength and fortitude being role models for those who wanted to speak and become weapons, keeping watch in battle.

Indeed, the words of Miqdad ibn Amr imprint in the hearts of the faithful, until Sa’ad and Mu’adz, the leaders of the Ansar, stand up and say: “Ya Prophet, we have trusted and defended you. We have testified that what you bring is the truth and for this we have tied our promises and allegiances. Go therefore, O Messenger of Allah, do what you want and we will always be with you.

For it is He who sent you to bring the truth, if you bring us into this sea, we will enter. None of us turned and none of us retreated to meet the enemy.

We will be steadfast in war, steadfast in our enemies, and ask the Lord to show you how our deeds please you today. Spread us with the blessing of God! The heart of the Prophet Shallallahu ‘alaihi Wassalam was filled with joy, then he said to his companions, “Open your heart.

And the two armies faced each other, members of the Muslim army who were riding horses at that time no more than three people, namely Miqdad bin Amr, who was a Muslim, Martsad bin Abu Martsad and Az-Zubair bin Al-Awwam, while other fighters included steep road teams or camel racers.

Miqdad bin Amr's speech, which we introduced earlier, not only illustrates his courage, but also describes his exact logic and deep thought.

That is the nature of Miqdad, he is a philosopher and thinker. He is a wise and good talker. His wisdom is evident not only in his words, but also in the firm principles of his life, as well as in his righteous and consistent conduct. His experience is a source of wisdom and support for his intelligence.

Miqdad bin Amr was one of the first people to convert to Islam. He was a man with incredible intelligence. In the time of Jahiliyah, his name was Miqdad ibn Aswad because he was adopted as a child by Aswad Abdu Yaghuts.

However, after the Islamic Sharia forbade the name of a person to be attached to the name of another person other than his biological father, Miqdad changed his name again to Miqdad bin Amr, son of ‘Amr bin Sa’ad.

The struggle of Miqdad bin Amr to defend Islam is not in doubt. His persistence in defending Islam surprised even many other friends. Abdullah bin Mas’ud, a friend of the Prophet, once said:

“I have watched Miqdad struggle, so I prefer to be his friend than the whole earth.”

The intelligence of Miqdad bin Amr is seen in every word. Every word he spoke showed that he was a strong thinker. One of the situations that shows how philosophical he is when addressing the Muslims who are preparing to fight in the battle of Badr.

Miqdad said, “O Prophet, continue to do what Allah has commanded, and we will be with you. By Allah, we will not say as the Children of Israel said to Moses, ‘Go with your Lord and fight, and we will tell you, ‘Go with your Lord and fight, and we fight alongside you’. For the sake of who sent you brings the truth! Had you taken us through the sea of mud, we would have fought with you steadfastly until we reached our destination.”

His philosophical skills were also told by a friend, he said, One day we went to sit near Miqdad. Suddenly a man passed by and said to Miqdad:

Miqdad said, “What motivates you to witness an event where God obscures your view, even though you have no idea what the consequences would be if you did? For God's sake, weren't many people buried in Hell in the time of the Prophet?

Why don't you praise the God who saved you from their disaster and made you believe in Your God and Prophet? “

One of the most unforgettable things about Miqdad bin Amr was when he turned down a position. The story of his rejection became famous and made many people aware of a responsibility.

A long time ago, Miqdad bin Amr was appointed by the Prophet (pbuh) as the winner of the mastery (amir) in a region. After returning from his search, the Prophet asked,

“What do you think after becoming an emir?»

He honestly replied, “You made me feel most worthy to win among all men, when they were all under me. By Dzat who has sent you brings the truth, since this time I do not want to be a leader even for two people untik forever.””

Since becoming Emir, it has always been filled with grandeur, luxury, and praise from many people. The slander he received during his tenure made him even more restless, He became restless. He always remembered the words of the Prophet,

“The happy person is the one who stays away from slander.”

So, to avoid slander, he relinquished his post and vowed never to accept any more office. His love for Islam led him to abandon everything that had kept him away from the faith.

He said, “Let me die, as long as Islam wins.”

His love for Islam earned him praise by the prophets,

“Verily Allah has commanded me to love you and to convey to me His message that He loves you.”

The story of Miqdad bin Amr really makes us ashamed because we lack confidence in the temptations of our current position. May we imitate the Prophet and his companions in defending Islam.

During his time in Medina, especially in the early days, Prophet Muhammad divided the companions of Muhajirin into ten groups. That is for those who do not live with the Ansars, but live in the foyer of a mosque like Ahlu Shuffah. During this time, Miqdad bin Amr was in the same group as the Prophet, and there were also three goats that could be milked for the group.

Once, Miqdad and two of his friends experienced hunger and thirst because of the tiredness he felt, and at that time there was only a glass of milk that became the ration of the Prophet.

However, at that time, the Prophet was visiting the house of a friend. Until then, there are demons who whisper evil thoughts to Miqdad, “You should drink this milk. The Prophet was visiting the home of Ansar's friends, and he must have received special treatment there.”

However, Miqdad ignored her, even though the demon kept whispering to her in such a way that in a bad and hungry state she could no longer hold it back. In the end, he drank the milk together with his two friends.

After drinking a glass of milk, the two friends fell asleep. Meanwhile, Miqdad himself is still haunted by guilt for drinking the milk of the Prophet.

It turned out that the devil added to his anxiety by whispering to Miqdad, “What are you doing? Muhammad will soon come and take his milk rations, you will surely die because he will pray for the extermination of those who succeeded him.”

Shortly after, the Prophet came. He immediately performed sunnah prayers for some rakaat. Miqdad, who saw the Prophet coming, became increasingly agitated and waited for what would happen. After praying, the Prophet turned to the empty milk cup, then the Prophet raised his hand and prayed.

“Bare me!!” Miqdad said in his heart.

Then, he heard the prayer of the Prophet SAW, “Yes Allah, give food to the one who gives me food, give drink to the one who gives me drink.”

Upon hearing the prayer, Miqdad immediately got up and took his knife. He intended to slaughter one of the three goats for food for the Prophet SAW.

But how surprised he was when he saw the three goats were full of milk. Though previously known there is not a single drop of milk that can be milked from the three.

He then took a vessel and filled it with milk and brought it to the Prophet of Allah. He drank a few sips and gave them to Miqdad,.

After drinking a few sips, Miqdad returned it to the Prophet SAW. The Prophet saw drank a few sips and was given again to Miqdad. It was repeated several times alternately drinking until finally Miqdad felt full and laughed remembering what he did.

Messenger of Allah SAW who knows what happened, smiled and said, “Your actions are one of your evils, O Miqdad! But it did not happen except by the mercy of Allah Azza wa Jalla. You better wake up your two friends so you can taste this milk.”

“Yes Allah's Apostle, I don't care who is to blame in this, but the important thing is that you have drunk the milk, and I have drunk the rest” Miqdad said.

After that, he woke up his two friends to be able to enjoy the blessed milk.

From the story of Miqdad bin Amr we can take lessons, especially in fighting for religion and with all the soul and body with his intelligent thinking.
