Friends Who Enter Heaven Before the Scholars

Muadz bin Jabal was born in Medina, Saudi Arabia, in 605 AD (18 years before the Prophet and the Companions emigrated to Medina).

His full name is Muadz bin Jabal bin Amr bin Aus bin Aidz bin Adiy bin K’ab bin Uday bin Sa’d bin Ali bin Asad bin Saridah bin Yazid bin Jusyam bin Khazraj.

Muadz ibn Jabal ibn Amr ibn Aus Al Khazraj. He came from the tribe of Khazraj, Medina, the Ansar nobility

Mu’az is also known as (ancient) Ab ‘Abd al-Rahman al-Ansar and belongs to Bani Salmah group on ‘Ud road, Ud, because ‘Ud is a brother of Salmah bin Sa’ad is one of the tribes of the Ansar group. On that basis, Mu’az is said to be a member of the Ansar group of the Bani Salmah tribe.

Another opinion says that Mu’az belongs to the tribe or group of Banin Salmah according to the way of Sahal ibn Muhammad, because Mu’az ibn Jabal is a brother of Sahal ibn Muhammad ibn al-Jaddi ibn Qais. Sahal itself is part of the group Banu Salmah.

However, the most relevant view according to Ibn Sa’ad and Ibn al-Atsr is the first to say that it is attributed to the Bani Salmah of the Uddi line, not of the Sahal line.

Muadz bin Jabal converted to Islam at the age of 18 years and was among 70 people who participated in the events of ‘Aqabah from among Anshar.

Prophet Muhammad SAW, paralleled Muadz bin Jabal with ‘Abdullah ibn Mas’ud. Mu’as also has an active role in several wars with the Prophet SAW, including participating in the battle of Badr at the age of 20 or 21 years old, and also participated in the Battle of Uhud which was two great wars between the people of Is1am and the Quraysh infidels.

In addition, Muadz ibn Jabal was the one who destroyed the idols that became a member of the Banu Salmah faction, along with Tsa’labah ibn ‘Undmah and ‘Abdullah ibn Unaisy.

Muadz bin Jabal is very well known as a beautiful and beautiful person, in the affairs of social interaction with the community is very well known as a very ethical and moral person, as well as a generous person, so because of his generosity, Muadz has a lot of debt.

Even when Muadz was sent to Yemen, he still left a debt, to the extent that the Prophet told’a so that Allah provided sufficient wealth and paid off the debt. Abntou Bakar was the one who eventually paid off and paid off all the remaining debt Muadz.

In terms of the collection of the Qur’an, the position of Muadz bin Jabal is very important, in addition to being the four people who contributed to the collection of the Qur’an during the time of Prophet Muhammad SAW. Even the Prophet once saw it as a source of restoration of the Quran. Therefore, it is not excessive to say that Muadz ibn Jabal is the main qari of the Qur’an.

Muadz bin Jabal was a fatwa expert whose abilities and talents were recognized in the time of the Prophet SAW, and he was also said to be the most knowledgeable in halal and haram matters.

In another account, Muadz ibn Jabal is said to be the one who best understands the problems of hell and Heaven.

Umar commented, those who want to know about fiqh (Islamic law) should ask Muadz bin Jabal. If Mu’az speaks, then the other companions listen and pay attention with full attention and respect. In the event of a dispute among the companions, they will ask Mu’az and follow his advice.

After the Fathu of Mecca, the Prophet of Mecca, left Mu’az in Makkah to teach the Qur’an to the inhabitants of Makkah. Then the Prophet appointed Muadz as a judge in the territory of Yemen.

Its task and function is to solve various problems that arise in the Muslim communities in the region of Yemen and Hadramaut.

Muadz ibn Jabal was a friend who was not only admired and appreciated by other companions. But the Prophet also praised his personality.

The Prophet of Islam, SAW, claimed that Muadz ibn Jabal was the Imam of the scholars and that on the Day of Resurrection he would be one or two steps ahead of the other scholars.

Not only prophesy Some of his companions also praised the character of Mu’az. Among the companions who praised Mu’az ibn Jabal was ‘Abdullah ibn Mas’ud.

Ibn Mas’ud praised Mu’az with the Prophet Ibrahim saying that Mu’az ibn Jabal was the most perfect person of his knowledge of goodness and most obedient to God.

It is therefore not surprising that many companions received reports from Muadz, including Umar ibn Khattab, his son ‘Abdullah, Abu Qatadah, Anas ibn Malik, Abu Umah al-Bahil, among others, Abu Lailah al-Anshar and many others from Other Companions, both from Muhajirin and Ansar.

Meanwhile, among tabi’in there are names such as Junadah bin Abi Umayyah, ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Ghanam, Abu Idrs al-Khulub, Abu Muslim al-Khulub, Jabir ibn Nafir, among others, Malik ibn Yughabir, and others.

Muadz ibn Jabal was a young man who had a great position in the heart of the Prophet. Among the things that show it is that the Prophet once hugged him. Ever held his hand while saying,

“O Mu’adz, by Allah, I love you, I love you.” (CHR. Abu Daud 1522 and An Nasai. 1304. Al Hafizh Abu Thohir said that this sanad hadith is shahih).

The end of Mu’az's life is still a polemic among historians. Ibn al-Atsir admits that there is controversy among historians about the year of Mu’az ibn Jabal's death.

But the most relevant opinion and supported by Ibn Sa’ad is the opinion that Mu’az ibn Jabal died in the plague (thha’an ‘uPawas) that struck the Sham region in the year 18 Hijri in the same age very young.age, especially 38 years. , even his son died from this outbreak.

Although Muadz was very young, he had a broad view of Islam. The Prophet sent him to preach in Yemen after the war of Tabuk. He took Muadz on foot to the end of the road, while Muadz rode.

Among his children were Abdurrahman, Umm Abdullah and others whose names were not mentioned by historians.

About Abu Muslim al-Khaulani, he said: “I entered the Damascus mosque. It turned out that I saw a great halaqah led by one of the companions of the Prophet Muhammad. Turns out he was a young man. It's catchy. White front teeth clean. If people disagreed on something, they asked the young man. I asked the people next to me, ‘Who is he?’ “They replied, ‘This is Muadz bin Jabal. (Hilyatul Auliya by Abu Nu’aim, No: 813).

Since the Prophet migrated to Madinah, Muadz studied hard to the Prophet (mulazamah). He studied the Qur’an and the Shariah sciences directly from the source. Until he became the most proficient reader of the Qur’an among his friends. And among the most aware of religious law.

Muadz was one of the six best memorizers of the Quran in the days of the Prophet, Muadz ibn Jabal r.a. said: “One day the Prophet took my hand. He said, “Hai Muadz, by Allah I really do love you.”

I replied, “My mother and father are a ransom, by Allah I really love you too.”

He said,

“Hai Muadz, I want to give you a will. Do not miss to read at every prayer, ‘Allahumma A’inni ‘ala dzikrika wa syukrika wa husni ‘ibadatika (God, help me to remember You, thank You, thank You, and worship well to You).” (Hadith Shahih Abu Dawud's history).

Abdullah bin Amr bin al-Ash radhiallahu ‘anhu said that Muadz bin Jabal wanted to safar.

Muadz said, “O Prophet of Allah, give me a will.” Prophet said, “Worship Allah and do not associate with anything.”

From Ashim bin Humaid that Muadz ibn Jabal recounted, “When the Prophet sent me to Yemen, the Prophet came out to escort me and carry out the will. Muadz was on his mount. While the Prophet accompanied him and said;

‘Hai Muadz, you may never see me again after this year. You passed by in my mosque and here my grave.’

Muadz wept, afraid to part with the Prophet. Then the Prophet turned towards Medina. He said,

“Surely the people who are most at my side are the pious, whoever and wherever they are.” (CHR. Ahmadis).

Compliments of Friends

Ash-Sha’bi (tabi’in) said: “Faurah bin Naufal al-Ashja’i conveyed to me that Abdullah bin Mas’ud said: ‘Verily Muadz bin Jabal is a person who obeys Allah (qanit) and is honest. said,

“Truly Ibrahim was a priest who could be exemplary again obedient to Allah and hanif.” [Quran of An-Nahl: 120].

I didn't forget. Do you know what I mean by people? What does Qanit mean? Faurah said, “Allahu a’lam.” Ibn Mas’ud said, “Umat is the one who knows kindness. The qanit is the one who submits obediently to Allah Azza wa Jallah and His Messenger.

And Muadz ibn Jabal was the one who knew the most good. And he was also an obedient man to Allah Azza wa Jalla and His Messenger.” (Tafseer of ath-Thabari)

Syahr bin Hausyab said, “When the companions of the prophet spoke (delivering the hadith), they looked towards Muadz as a tribute to him.” (Hilyatul Awliya’ by Abu Nu’aim)

Malik ad-Dari said that Umar bin al-Khattab received a sum of up to 400 dinars. Then put it in the package. Umar said to his son: “Please! Give this to Abu Ubaidah bin al-Jarah. Stop for a moment, see what he's going to do.

The boy's gone. When he arrived, he said: Amirul Mu’minin said to his son. Abu Ubaidah's friend said, “May Allah have mercy on him.” He then called his servant, “Come to Jariyah (servant).” Take these 7 bucks to the Fulani. Years for the Fulani. Five more for the Fulani. Until there is no more money left. “

The slave of Umar returned to his master. Then, Umar also prepared an equal amount for Muadz ibn Jabal. He said: “Bring this to Muadz bin Jabal. Paused. Watch what he does.

The slave went to take the money, arriving at the place of Muadz bin Jabal, he said: “Amirul Mu’minin advising you that some of this money should be used to meet your needs.” Muadz said, “May Allah have mercy on him and pursue him.

Come Jariyah (slave). Take this money to Fulan's house. Come to Fulan with this little money. “Then his wife came. He said, “For God's sake, I am also a person in need. Always give it to me. “At that time, with nothing but two dinars, Muadz gave two dinars to his wife. The boy returned to Umar.  Umar commented: “They are brothers. Some of them are part of each other. (Siyar A’lam an-Nubala, 1/456). Such was Muadz's asceticism towards the world.

Yahya bin Said said: “Muadz has two wives . If he lived in his wife's house, he would not drink the water of another house. ” (Hilyatul Aulia by Abu Nu’aim No: 823). This is a form of caution (wara’) Muadz. He did not want to hurt one of his wives even if it was just tasting water at home without his turn.

Yahya bin Said also said that Muadz bin Jabal had two wives. On the day of one of his wives, he did not have an abortion in another house. Then two of his wives died of the plague in Sham. Everyone is busy. He buried them both in one grave. Then he chose, whoever was nominated would be put into the grave. “(Hilyatul Auliya).

From Muawiyah ibn Qurah, Muadz ibn Jabal said to his son: “My son, when you pray, pray as if it were your last. Don't think you'll get a chance to do it again later. Know my son that a believer dies between two virtues. The good he did and the good he did. (Hilyatul Auliya by Abu Nu’aim, No: 824).

According to Abu Idris al-Khaulani, Muadz bin Jabal said: “Every time you are with people, they will definitely talk about something. If you see them as negligent, go to your Lord. “(Hilyatul Auliya by Abu Nu’aim, No: 834).

It means that when people are negligent, you always remember your Lord. There is an advantage in remembering Allah when many people forget it.

About Asy’ats bin Sulaim, King of ‘bin Haiwah, Muadz bin Jabal said: “You have been tempted by difficulties, you can be patient. You will be tested with pleasure. And what I fear most about you is the woman's test. You are covered with gold and women wear Riyath (a type of clothing) from Sham, and Yemeni cloth. They are exhausting the rich. And burden the poor. “(Hilyatul Auliya by Abu Nu’aim, No: 839).

Tariq bin Abdurrahman said there had been an outbreak of cholera in Syria. The distribution was so evenly distributed that people commented, “It was a flood. It's just no water.”

This statement reached the ears of Muadz, who even preached: “I have sent to you what you have said. But, this is the grace of your Ulama and the prayer of your Nabimu. Like the death of a righteous man before you. They're afraid of something worse than that. That is, a person leaves home in the morning without knowing whether he is a believer or a hypocrite. And they are afraid of the leadership of children (who are incompetent).” (Shifatu ash-Shafwah, 1/189).

Abdullah bin Rafi’ said: “When Abu Ubaidah bin al-Jarah died of cholera. The people appointed Muadz ibn Jabal as their leader.

The pain is getting worse, people say to Muadz: “May God remove this garbage (disease)”. Muadz replied, “That's not dirt. But it is the prayer of your prophet. And the death of the righteous and the martyrs before you. Allah loves those whom He wills among His servants among you. Friend, there are four things that if you are able to not experience one of these four things then do”.

They ask, ‘What is it?’

Muadz replied, ‘There will come a time when impiety is so dominant. So that someone above his religion meets another, the person says, ‘For God's sake, I don't know what I'm sick about. I don't feel life on the clues. Not dead on it. One gives others the treasure of God's possessions on condition that they speak lies that make God angry. O Allah, bring to the family the provision of Muadz for them. And perfect this grace’.

Muadz's son joking, ‘How do you consider (plague) this something you want to bring immediately and grace?’

Muadz said, ‘Oh my son (he excommunicated the word of God),

“That truth is from your Lord, therefore never be among those who doubt.” [Quran Al-Baqarah: 147].

His son replied, ‘I (he wrote the word of God

“God willing you will find me including those who are patient.” [Quran Ash-Shaffat: 102]

His two wives then contracted the plague. Both are dead. While Muadz, infected with this thumb plague. He wiped his mouth, saying: “Yes Allah, it is very small. Endowed. Really, you are very loving to little children. “Muadz also died from this plague.

Muadz bin Jabal radhiallahu ‘anhu died of tha’un (cholera.) He died in an area of Jordan (Sham) in 28 A. D.

He died at the age of 38. And others say 33 years. May Allah have mercy and mercy on Muadz ibn Jabal, the leader of the clergy in the Hereafter. Wallahua’lam!
