Abu Said al Khudri was a friend who loved science and jihad. His perseverance in preaching Islam is recorded in history. He was born approximately the 3rd year after Muhammad was ousted to be the Apostle of Allah. He fought in the way of God. He only did not participate in two wars, Badr and Uhud, because he was too young.
When Abu Said Al Khudri was 13 years old, the battle of Uhud took place. At a young age, Abu Said a teenager had invited his father to go down in the war. Although not obliged to fight, his father wanted his son to plunge into battle.
His whereabouts are known to the Prophet SAW. The apostle forbade him to join this battle. Although his father argued that Abu Said was a strong and high-spirited son, the Apostle refused. During the war, his father, Malik Ibn Sinan, was martyred. When on the battlefield, Malik is one of the friends who protect and take care of the Prophet SAW.
His father died without leaving property for his young children. This makes Abu Said and his brother Furai’ah bin Malik often experience distress. Nevertheless, their faith did not waver, but it grew thicker. They consider the hassles they face in the world a test of patience.
One day, Abu Said al Khudri had no money at all to buy food. He wants to ask the Prophet for help.
At the Nabawi Mosque, where the Prophet's assembly was held, he set foot and intended to complain to the Prophet. However, had not had time to speak to the Prophet, Abu Said heard the sermon of the Prophet SAW. In the sermon, the Apostle said, “Those who hold back their lusts because of Allah SWT, Allah will surely suffice them. And whosoever asks for riches because of Allah, Allah will give him riches
He was a friend of the Anshar class who most narrated the hadith of the prophet. 1170 hadith narrated through him. He is included in the seven friends who most narrate hadith. Because he narrated thousands of Hadith of the Prophet, Abu Said entered the group of mukatsirin friends. Thousands of hadiths were narrated by rote. How great is the gift of Allah SWT to Abu Said. In fact, Hanzalah bin Abi Sufyan, narrated from his sheikhs, said, “We do not know the young man from among the Prophet who is more alim than Abu Said al Khudri.”
Abu Said always studied and followed the Prophet with great diligence and obedience. So, no wonder if many were handed the Prophet's hadith narrated by him. Starting from the hadith about adab, Islamic law, historical events to belief. The seriousness of learning and the pleasure of Allah then brought Abu Said to be a pious man. He became a mufit friend.
But Abu Said did not learn only from the Prophet. His love of science made Abu Said also narrated from more senior friends such as the Rashidun Khulafaur. It is with his faith that the name Abu Said became a reference for his peers. Among them, Abdullah bin Umar, Anas bin Malik, and Jabar bin Abdillah.
In addition, Abu Said is a friend who has a high level of intimacy during prayer. A story tells that so solemnly salat so that he did not heed the arrow stuck on him.
Once when Abu Said was asked to take care of the Prophet, he performed prayers in the bush. Suddenly the enemy shot him right in the chest. Although blood poured out, Abu Said who was then performing night prayers did not feel pierced by arrows. Then the next arrow struck his body again. If not for fear of being killed, he might continue ruku’ and bow down. Such was the obedience of Abu Said al Khudri.
