On Saturday, Melody's audition day arrived. Accompanied by her father and three older brothers, Melody set off for an audition held by Pentatonix Management. There are five other candidates. The five candidates appeared before Melody. Each candidate must sing three popular songs and two self-created songs using musical instruments that have been provided.
Turn Melody on. He chose to use his Gita—gitar given by his deceased mother. Five judges, including Danny Arya, did not applaud Melody after she sang five songs. It left Melody confused and a little desperate. Her father and three brothers became anxious.
"Melody, what a great name for a singer." Said one of the male judges who was a famous singer. "Why don't you use the instruments provided and choose to use your guitar? Whereas if you hear the sound of the guitar it has experienced a lot of decline, likely because the age of the guitar is too long." Ask.
"This is my mother's guitar. Even though I'm old, I think the sound is still good." Melody answered nervously. "In the rules there's no mention of having to use an existing musical instrument, so I guess I can use it."
"Your mother? You look like a singer but the singer disappears when it shines. What's your mother's name Lidya?" Ask the jury that the only one is a woman. She is an old singer who is also a diva.
"True, mother's name is Lidya." Answer Melody. "This guitar is his legacy."
"What musical instruments do you master besides the guitar?" Ask the jury who is a musician from a famous band.
"Piano, Violin, and bass, I've also learned drums, but since you don't like to see me hit so he forbids it." Melody answered making all the judges laugh. "But what I like most is the guitar."
"Melody, I love both of your songs." Said the jury who is a famous songwriter who has scored hit songs. "How many songs have you written?"
"Eighteen songs, and there's one song that's still raw because I haven't got the exact lyrics yet." Melody.
"Then can you sing that one raw song, with humming??" Pinta songwriter jury. "Don't forget to play your guitar either."
Melody began strumming her guitar and humming at the request of one of the judges. After he finished the song, the entire jury gave a standing applause very lively. Seeing her Melody shed tears feeling moved.
It is the announcement that passed the audition and that will get the contract with Pentatonix Management. Melody was really nervous and her heart was beating fast. He held his breath until Danny Arya mentioned his name as a graduating candidate. Melody was moved to tears, as was her entire family.
It was already very late when Melody and her family returned home. It was with great pleasure that they left the audition venue. Melody was very happy because she finally got a contract with Pentatonix Management, so her dream was one step away from becoming a reality. It all said Lion, if Lion doesn't send a demo record then none of this will happen.
In the car Melody checked her phone and got dozens of messages from Lion. All of his messages contained questions about the results of the audition. Melody did not reply and closed the message.
"Melo, didn't you tell Lion?" Ask Prothos who was sitting in the front seat beside Aramis who was driving. Prothos turned to Melody. "Lion sent a message to brother, asking for the result. He must have sent you a message, too, right?"
"Tomorrow I'll tell him." Melody replied while hugging the father sitting beside her left.
"Don't answer! Let Melo tell Lion!!" Athos sat to the right of Melody. "It's all thanks to that boy."
...***...
Melody's light steps came to a halt in front of the door of Lion's room when she heard the voice of a woman inside the room. Melody knew it was the voice of Lion's mother, Stella's aunt. He paused his intention of going in because of hearing their conversation. Stella was yelling at Lion at this moment.
"No more bargaining! Four years ago you said after graduating Junior High but mommy has let you stay here until now. After what happened to you, I won't budge again!!" Excited Stella—ibu Lion in an annoyed tone. "You have to come to America! Your father wants to live with you!!"
"What's less mommy? You're mom's son, but you've never lived with mom! So mommy begs you to listen to mom's words! Come to America and live with Dad and Mom!"
Melody trembled at the conversation. His heart seemed to want to run out leaving his body, mute and felt heated on his back. His gaze became blurred as tears were pouring out. What if Lion would go to America and live there? That means he will not meet the young man he loves again.
"Melo, what's wrong?" Ask Athos who just came after parking the car. "Why not go in?"
Melody was silent and did not know what to say. He bowed his head and wiped away the tears in his eyes.
Suddenly the door of the room opened.
"You guys came to see El?" Let's go in." Stella smiled.
Athos waited for Melody to walk in but Melody remained silent because of that she walked first. But suddenly Athos felt that Melody was walking behind him by holding his shirt. He knew that it was Melody's habit to feel fear.
"Melon, why didn't you answer my message? I've been sending you a lot of messages since yesterday. You're so outrageous. I was very curious about the outcome." Lion. "How's the audition? Didn't it work? If you look at your expression, it must be?"
"You don't want to tell him?" Look at Athos at Melody who was bowed beside him. Melody's still holding her shirt.
"You're Melody who lives next to our house?" Ask Stella. "You've grown up too yeah, of course you and El are the same age. You're such a pretty girl now, it's worth El telling you so much."
Melody raised her head with reddened eyes, she stared at Lion. "Are you going?" Melody asked with a trembling voice.
Lion did not answer because it was true.
"Are you going to America?" Ask Melody again.
"true." Answer Stella. "Lion will live in America. His legs will be treated there to be fully healed like before—"
"Mom!!"
"Actually my aunt had asked me to stay with her aunt and father in America but because she couldn't leave her grandmother, she'd stay here." Stella ignored Lion. "But since his feet are like that, then the aunt will drag him."
"Will you shut up, mom?" Lion exclaimed in annoyance and a little rude.
Melody's neck was choked so she couldn't make a sound. He could feel his tears were no longer able to be contained. Without a word Melody immediately ran out of the room with tears that began to fade.
