The sun began to lift its light. Now I and my entourage are getting ready to go to Khan El Khalili. It is a traditional shopping district in downtown Cairo. And here we are the nomads, whether students, migrant workers or corporate employees who are visiting Cairo looking for souvenirs to take back to Indonesia, including me.
As long as you know, in Khan El Khalili there are many shops that sell everything. Yes such as, T-shirts, key chains, refrigerator patches, wall clocks, handicrafts from metal, glass, wood, calligraphy etc.
You must be wondering how I know all about Khan El Khalili. You also know that I have never been to Cairo. Well, before me and the group went to Khan El Khalili, I was browsing first on google altar. So, yeah, I know everything. And now, I live increasingly curious about that place.
I can't wait to shop there. This is it, the habit of a woman who mostly can not resist her lust to shop for something that he thinks is beautiful or interesting. Hehe.. Including me too.
"How are you guys ready, right?" Ask Mr. Fadli to make sure.
"God willing, we are ready, brother." Julian answered representing.
"Alright, then we get into the car you have chosen for yourself." Said brother Fadli.
After brother Fadli gave instructions, we entered our respective cars. Where brother Fadli and sister Maryam are always in between by the driver, mbak Humaira and mas Joko ride the car they have chosen, as for me and Yulian we rode the car we had chosen as well.
Finally, our car was traveling at a very high speed. So bustling and beautiful is the city of Cairo during a trip on the highway. Many smoky vehicles fill the streets of the city, which is not inferior to Indonesia like the city of Jakarta.
"Umi why are you smiling like that?" Tanya Yulian was curious.
Maybe Yulian saw me when I imagined my impatience to go shopping.
"Akh, it's okay, dear abi. Umi was just imagining shopping in Khan El Khalili, it must be fun. But by the way, can I shop there?" My answer.
"May Ie baby. What the hell didn't make this wife." Yulian said as she rubbed my hair covered with my hijab.
I was lulled into his treatment, so I spoiled myself by grasping his arm and I rested my head on his shoulder. I really feel comfortable being next to him.
After a few hours, we reached our destination, Khan El Khalili.
So beautiful and crowded. There are many traders who sell various things.
"What do you want to buy, Aisyah?" Ask Maryam.
Since I was confused about what to buy, I quietly did not respond to what was asked by sister Maryam. I turned my head and my eyes to look at what I had to buy. Women love to worry when shopping. Hohoho...!
"How about we go to the dress shop first?" Tanya Humaira gave her advice.
"Emmm... That could be." Reply sister Maryam.
"If Ayesha is up to you, Ayesha will follow you." My welcome resigned.
Yes, according to our purpose, to the clothing store first. There are many different types of motifs and models of clothes sold there. And I want to feel like I bought everything, but since I remember to be able to keep the excess lust, I ended up buying clothes for the family only.
And after going to the dress shop, we went to the craft store. Ets, but we're just looking around there. Maybe I'll buy some more things to remember that I stopped in Cairo, calligraphy.
After we went around to buy and see various items sold, we stopped at a nearby restaurant to fill our stomachs that had asked for lunch rations. And after that, then we look for the nearest mosque to do our duty as Muslims.
"How about we see a man painting in front of the post office? Anybody know there's an interesting painting in there." Answer sister Maryam.
"May that too, brother. Let's just go there. Kan, eat it already and pray it too?" Reply approves.
And our husbands just follow what we want. Hehe, how noble and attentive they are all to us their wives.
Since the journey from the mosque in Khan El Khalili to the place where the painter was not too far away, we finally arrived. We got down the car after the car we were riding in was sidelined on the side of the road.
We walked down the street to look at the paintings that had been plastered on the side of the road, more precisely in front of the post office. So beautiful and interesting in every painting.
"Assalamu'alaikum ya Akhwan (assalamu'alaikum my brother)." Yulian said to the painter to say hello.
"Wa'alaikumsalam." Reply with a smile.
We also greet each other and for the men they shake hands with each other, while we as women we just cupped our hands while looking down to greet him.
"Hal hnak 'ayu shay' yumkinuni almusaeada (can I help you)?" Ask him to Julian.
"Nem sayidi, hal li'an atlub mink rusim zawjiti (yes sir, can I ask you to paint my wife)?" Julian turned around to ask.
"Mind 'akhi (by my brother)." Answer him politely.
A few hours later, he finished painting me. Incidentally, sister Maryam and mbak Humaira also want to be painted. So, we all have to wait a few more hours until the painting process is completely finished.
It was getting late in the afternoon, thankfully the painter was able to finish his task before the sun started to set.
"Subhan Allah, hadhih allawhat jamilat jiddaan (Subhan Allah, so beautiful this painting)." I said after seeing my face painting.
And the painter just smiled to return my words.
"Shukraan lak ealaa rusim hdha bishakl jamil (thanks for painting so beautifully)." Connect Yulian.
I didn't understand what they were talking about, so I'd rather go back and look at some paintings that I haven't seen.
"Kam hi klu allawhat ya 'akhi (how much did all the paintings cost my brother)?" Asked Yulian about the price of our painting the three of us earlier.
"Lays ealayk 'an tadfae, yes 'akhi, 'ana 'uhriruha lak (you don't have to pay for it, my brother, I'll give it to you)." Answer him with a smile.
After a few minutes of talking to each other, we finally decided to go back to the hotel. But, before we gave a lot of thanks to him for his kindness.
"Shukraan jazilaan ealaa kl shayy(thanks a lot for everything)." Fadli's brother represented.
"Ealaa alrahab walsaeat 'akhi(Sama-sama my brother)." Reply to him with a smile.
We also saluted him to say goodbye and after that we boarded the car and drove it at medium speed to go to the hotel.
