It had been thirty minutes since I stood under the banyan tree, waiting for the rain to stop and the sky to clear.
But the rain showed no sign of stopping. Even the sky had also become darker, bringing cold air with it.
"The observation time given was still around three hours so I was still within safe limits. But if it takes longer, the choice is just to run ... Troublesome."
Glancing the other way on the bushes, I could also catch a glimpse of the animal ears protruding from there. The Spirit girl was still looking at me, until when would she continue to do so?
And on the other hand, the cat that was supposed to be my guardian ...
"Master, why are you sleeping? Wake up, it won't be difficult if Master takes me quickly. I'll buy you two meat Bakpaos after coming from here so let's get back soon."
"Mc ..."
I stroked the cat's stomach beside me and slightly pressed down on some of its parts, Master responded with a small groan without opening his eyes. This cat is really asleep.
"It's good for me to do something else. Waiting without doing anything like this really feels like torture."
Because of this leisure time, I decided to spend it by reviewing the previously taken observation reports and correcting them.
Fortunately, there were some parts to the report that I had to correct and that helped me to distract for a moment. Give some marks using a pen.
Continue by checking some sample photos and making sure nothing is lacking. Since most photos are taken when the weather is clear, it looks pretty good.
I also took some photos of Ella and Mona while they were seriously doing their respective duties. Ella might complain but I don't think she'll mind. For Mona, she would definitely like it.
"Ella and Mona, huh? I have to make sure to apologize to them when I get back. It makes me a little nervous."
Finished by reviewing the photo and my stomach sounds a little. I picked up some biscuits from the bag and at that moment, the black cat that completely ignored me from earlier walked over.
"What do you want? I won't give it one."
"Hey hey, are you sure? I don't mind taking you now."
The master shook his tail to the side several times and moved his eyebrows, smiling arrogantly. It makes me even more upset.
"I don't care anymore about that, I'm gonna eat all these biscuits alone. Master, you can find fish in the river or rats. No parts for lazy cats."
"Hooh ... Is that so? I understand ..."
The master narrowed his eyes and lowered his body, pinning his cat's claws on the wet grass, putting on the posture of a tiger preparing to pounce on its prey.
As a form of anticipation, I closed the jar containing the biscuits out of Master's reach and placed it behind my body. Whatever happens, I won't let this cat take it.
The atmosphere was quiet, with tension slowly rising between us. While trying to focus my attention, I opened my mouth to buy some time.
"Master, just in case I'm going to ask you this. What does the Master want to do? You're not planning on doing something as despicable as stealing biscuits from the people you're supposed to protect, are you? Master, I can trust you, right?"
I made an awkward smile, whereupon the Master who immediately replied to him with a slow snort and made an arrogant smile.
"Of course not. How could I possibly steal something that belongs to the person I have to protect, right? I am a high spirit who upholds honor and justice. All the actions I took always reflected those two things, without exception."
"Master ..."
I was a little nauseous when I heard the word honor and justice from the cat who always blackmailed me into buying him a meat bakpao but there was no other choice to follow him at this moment.
"Master, I believe in—"
But I was too naive, thinking that just agreeing to it would solve all the root causes. It was not enough, because the one in front of me was a high-level Spirit.
Where they are also known for the selfishness and arrogance they have. Before I could realize it, the Master had jumped.
With her small legs, the black cat leaped towards me and sharpened its paws. My response was a little late, making me hold it with my arm and the cat jumped up again, using my arm as a foothold.
"Fucking cat."
What he's after is something behind me, which I don't need to say anymore about. Because of doing so suddenly, I lost my balance and made my body fall forward.
The master took that opportunity very well.
"I'm not going to steal something from the person I'm protecting, that's the truth."
Master wrapped around the jar containing the biscuit with his tail and jumped high on the banyan tree, settling on one of its branches that I could not reach. The cat continued.
"But don't get Aciel wrong, you're the man I'm going to eat. This is like putting fresh meat in the refrigerator and waiting for the right time to eat it. Which means, you're mine and not the one I'm supposed to protect."
The master opened the jar, took one of the biscuits and ate it.
"Because you're mine, whatever you have is mine. Did you understand that? This includes biscuits as well."
"Master, the logic you're saying is completely broken. If you say all that seriously, there's no other choice for me than to think of yourself as a mad Spirit."
I took a few branches from the fallen banyan tree, clenched a handle on one middle section of the slide.
All right, this feels comfortable.
Ignoring that, I immediately braced my lower body, glued the grip on the twig and threw it like a spear, aiming at the jar located on the branch.
"Did?!'
And on target.
The jar was dragged by the twig I threw, lost its balance and fell open. I had predicted the place to fall, put my hand up and caught all the biscuits that had fallen.
"Hurmm—!!"
Without waiting for anything, I immediately ate all the biscuits at once, while enjoying the expression of the cat staring at me with its eyes forming a perfect circle.
I swallowed it and smiled, pointing my thumb at Master.
"This cookie is delicious, I have to thank Mona later."
The master gritted his teeth, closed his eyes and inhaled a long breath. Repeat it a few times and look at me in silence.
The black cat said nothing and just stared straight at me.
"Hm? What's up?"
And when I asked that, the Master jumped off the branch, widened his front legs with pre-prepared claws and opened his mouth filled with sharp fangs.
"Bas based on a fucking boy!! How dare you steal my biscuits?!"
"Huh?! From the beginning it was mine, since when did I give it to you?!"
"Gurgh—!!"
The master floated his front legs on my face, trying to claw but I instantly avoided him and banged my head tightly at him.
"It hurts!! You're starting to dare attack me, aren't you?! Alright, I won't hold back!!"
"Please, you fucking cat!!"
As we began to fuss over the insignificant matter, I didn't realize there was some movement in the bushes. Something approached us, muffling his voice with the rush of rain.
"Hm?"
"Huh?"
And by the time I started to notice it, it was already right on the side. Staring at me and the Master with eyes that showed a form of worry. She was the animal-eared Spirit girl who was watching me from earlier.
The girl was holding two fairly large taro leaves in both her hands. Then threw the taro leaf on his left hand towards me.
"Huh?"
I picked up the taro leaf and stared at it, asking for an explanation.
"Nm ... That's ..."
The Spirit girl seemed to understand the meaning of the gaze I made.
While turning his gaze in the other direction out of nervousness, he tried to explain in a broken voice.
Me and Master just stared at him without saying anything.
The girl breathed a little air, although I don't know if the Spirit can breathe, maybe it's one form of movement to calm her down.
He immediately released that air and looked at me, with sparkling eyes.
"Make that ... As an umbrella ... For ... Home."
Of course, I heard it but I couldn't immediately guess what it meant. Makes me look carefully at the taro leaves.
This taro leaf was large enough to cover my head.
"So so ... Using taro leaves as an umbrella. I see, right?"
The animal ear girl nodded her head a few times, with a sparkling gaze and pointed at me using her finger, then pointed in the other direction.
"Now ... You can ... Back."
I looked in the direction that the girl pointed, it might lead to the inn.
"Oh ... Thanks?"
With some hesitation, I nodded in thanks. And after looking at it up close once again, I could confirm what ears were on the top of the girl's head.
It was a rabbit's ear.
