Rich In a Brief
Jade Pendant

"All right! I surrender!" Luis raised his hand in surrender.

...................................................

"You always say that, but you never change" Lia snapped.

"See this."

Luis reached into his clothes in search of something. He took out a jade pendant and extended it to Lia.

"See, this is compensation from me. I know I'm wrong."

"Good then. I think you're a good man." Lia grinned as she accepted the jade pendant. Then he patted Luis on the head gently as if the man was a child.

With the background of the Lia family, the jade pendant was worthless. The diamond necklaces in his office already filled half the drawers. However, he never really appreciated any of it.

Apparently, the price of a gift is no more important than the person giving it.

Lia then told Luis to put the jade pendant around her neck.

"I'll treat you to a meal if I have time" Luis said politely after finishing pairing the necklace.

"As if it would ever happen."

"My luck is as bad as ever." Luis sighed as he looked at the word "Failed" on the screen.

Although he was the MVP of the round, Luis did not manage to lead his odd team-mate to victory.

He did not understand what his team-mates were planning. "Three snipers! What kind of formation is that! Am I joining a team that's going down the ranks?" he thought with anger.

"My reputation is at stake!" annoyed.

Luis was very depressed when he realized his power rank had gone down.

"Boss, get me a box of beers."

Luis was just about to start another chapter in his game when a loud voice sounded.

He immediately looked up and saw a haphazard woman, wearing a black nightgown, just appearing in front of him.

Luis lifted a box of beers from the side and placed them in front of the woman. "Oh, you look like."

In response, the woman took her eyes off the phone and looked up as soon as she heard Luis' voice. "Hi, why are you here?"

She was no stranger to Luis. They meet when Luis and Lula go to a bar. She was one of the two women they met. Name's Marry.

"I didn't expect to see you here." Luis beamed, surprised at the coincidence. He opened Apple Pay for payment. "Please, it's 6 bucks."

Marry nodded for a moment. You are a rich man. And you want this?"

"This is a business with a small profit margin. We don't accept takedown purchases." Luis smiled kindly.

He gave Marry a lollipop. "It's a lollipop for you."

Marry glimpsed the rundown-looking supermarket. He asked puzzledly, "Aren't you supposed to stay in the villa? Why are you staying in this place?"

In Marry's mind, not once did he think Luis was poor. He had already witnessed Luis squandering money uncontrollably in the bar. Ordinary people can't act like that!

Marry can be said to be a person who often visits bars and nightclubs. He had seen all sorts of people in those places. But Luis' character was the first time he met.

I've lived here since birth. Luis gestured with his hand.

he was born and raised here. More importantly, this supermarket was the result of his parents' efforts. That's why he keeps staying here.

If it wasn't for that, he could have gotten another job that would have been better than being here.

Even without doing anything, just by collecting the rent from the Duke Tower was actually enough. The income from the rent has allowed him to live comfortably.

"Have you lived here since childhood?" Marry put a confused look on his face. He glanced at Luis at a glance and thought this man belonged to the prosperous second generation.

"Why are you so surprised? Everyone in this area knows about this."

Luis shifted his hand. "You're new to this place, aren't you?"

"Yes. I moved here not long ago."

"Why did you choose to move to a place like this? It's been a long time since any young man moved here."

What's more, this is an old residential district. The location is too far from shopping centers and large malls. There are only a few young people who want to stay here because the location is not strategic to work.

Of course, Luis is an exception. You could say living here has certain advantages. At least the price of renting a house is much cheaper compared to other places.

"I don't have any money." Marry found a chair and sat down with a helpless expression on his face.

"You kidding? You don't look like you're short of money."

Luis grabbed Coke off the shelf and started drinking, it felt like opening a bottle of happiness.

He always liked the drink because he was surrounded by a happy feeling every time he opened the bottle.

Marry is considered to be working part-time at his job. People like him work in nightclubs. In general, the income is not small. On a profitable night, he could meet a generous boss and easily earn a few thousand dollars in one night.

"My father beat up someone. So we have to pay compensation of over 30 thousand dollars."

Marry smiled wryly as his eyes began to turn red. "I have a huge debt."
