Jeff's expression changed. He remembers the time Ulan insisted on not knowing Niko. Niko and Wulan are interacting. The two of them sat on a long iron bench a short distance away from him and Handoko.
Jefry's point of view demanded that Handoko follow him. He smiled and said, "You see, right? They're very close."
Handoko hopes Jefry will figure out a way to correct this mistake.
However, Jefry's desire to match his daughter with his friend's son had been arranged for a long time. He also did not want his plan to fail.
"I'm sorry, Handoko."
Handoko was surprised to look at Jefry.
"I already told Ulan. I can't let down my daughter, Handoko."
"No problem. Didn't you say he didn't want to be betrothed? She wants to marry the man she loves, right?"
"At first, but after seeing Niko earlier. He seems to like Niko."
"You can rectify it, Jefry. You just have to tell him I misinformed him. The truth is true, right? I didn't ask you how many daughters you had and what their names were. I even found out by now, that you have a second wife."
Jeff was silent for a long time.
Handoko. "How can you do it, right?"
Jeff looked at his friend. "I can't, Handoko."
"Why?"
For a long time Jefry kept silent and said, "I disagree with Wulan with Niko. I'm sorry, Handoko. Ulan and Niko's marriage has been planned for a long time. I don't want that match to fail."
"Is it because Wulan isn't your real son, is it?"
"It's not. Anyway Niko and Ulan should get married. The matchup must happen, Handoko.
Handoko. "You know the impact of marriage is based not on love? Niko loves Wulan, Jefry. He doesn't love Ulan."
Jefry shakes. "They can't be together, Handoko."
"Why?"
"Do you remember Benny Irawan?"
"Of course remember. I didn't forget when you told me to give him the briefcase, Jefry."
Jefry grinned. "Angelina is his wife. Wulan is her biological daughter, Handoko."
Handoko's body was riveted. His eyes did not blink looking at Jefry.
"You must know the impact of Wulan and Niko's marriage later. That's why I don't want them together, I don't want Wulan to know her father-in-law's killer."
Handoko's angry. "You told me to, Jefry!"
"But you did it. No one knows what happened, except you."
Handoko calmed herself down. Fortunately, their position was far from others. So, they do not know that he is overwhelmed with emotions.
"As long as the secret is not revealed, I'm sure everything will be safe" said Jefry, "But if the secret were exposed, do you think they would believe that I did it?"
I don't want his emotions to explode. Handoko immediately stood up and moved from there.
"Look! Come on, let's go home."
Before Handoko left, Jefry said slowly, "Think about my words, Handoko. Matching Ulan and Niko was a good decision."
Not understanding the words of his friend, Handoko left the place without saying goodbye at all.
Niko realized that. He stood up and looked at Wulan. "Much I want to tell you. I'll see you tomorrow. I'll pick you up early."
Wulan smiled. "Let me know when I get there."
"Sure, Honey."
As soon as Niko left, Jefry sat down beside Wulan. "Where are mama and Ulan?"
Since dinner ended Ulan and Angelina are nowhere to be seen. Regardless of where they are, Wulan is now aware of the absence of her mother and step-sister. So happy Niko came home for dinner, Wulan no matter where Ulan and Angelina are.
"Yes, already. Come on, let's go in, there's something you want me to tell you."
The feeling of Wulan blossoming. He believes Jefry will discuss the arrival of Niko and Handoko. He also antipasally walked after Jefry.
On the other side.
On the way home a silence ensues between Niko and Handoko.
Niko kept quiet with her own thoughts. He was curious about Handoko's attitude which suddenly invited him home. He could be aware of the father's emotions from the intonation of the voice when he passed it home. Out of emotion, Handoko did not say goodbye to Wulan and Niko realized that.
Whether the topic is what Handoko and Jefry are talking about, Niko realizes there is a conversation that is not right, thus triggering her father's emotions.
He grew even more curious when he thought about his relationship with Wulan. Did Jefry not approve of his relationship with Wulan? Niko turned her face to look at Handoko.
"I don't know what Papa and Uncle Jefry are talking about, but I'm sure because it's made Papa's attitude change."
Handoko dissolved in his mind.
Niko continued to talk until she realized that Handoko had not heard a single word coming from her mouth. He touched Handoko, made the man surprised and looked at her.
"Niko, what's wrong?"
Just then Brian turned their car into the yard.
"Well, did you hear what I was talking about?"
"What talk?"
Niko was silent for a moment and then got out of the car. He was upset, thousands of words had come out of his mouth, but the father had not heard any of them.
Handoko felt guilty. He takes Niko to the back garden and talks.
"Papa wanted to apologize, Niko."
Niko was sure it would happen. "What's the reason Jefry rejected me?"
"No, he didn't reject you."
Niko surprised. He looked at Handoko with furrowed brows.
Handoko took a breath. "At first papa was wrong, without finding out how many children Jefry papa directly match you with his daughter. I swear, papa doesn't know that Jefry's remarried."
Niko can catch the meaning of Handoko's words. "Why did you match me up with her sister Wulan?"
"Papa's really sorry, Niko. I swear, papa doesn't know that Jefry's remarried. He never married and he knew his son named Wulan. Papa really doesn't know that he's remarried and has a son on the sidelines whose name is the same as his womb."
"Wulan didn't talk to me about it at the time. Maybe Jefry hasn't talked to them about it. Meaning, that misunderstanding can still be corrected, right?"
"Fixed may be possible, but the problem ...," Handoko silently looked at Niko.
"What's the problem, Pa?"
"The problem is Wulan's biological son Benny Irawan with Angelina."
Niko.
"As long as the secret is not revealed, Wulan and Angelina will not know who the culprit is. Papa is worried, no matter how we keep that secret, it will be revealed one day. Wulan will definitely hate you, even leave you."
Niko came out of her shock. "It wasn't Papa who did that, papa just ran the command. It was Jefry who did it."
"That's right. But you're sure Wulan would believe it, if it was Jefry?"
Niko thought for a moment. "If that's all Jefry doesn't want me to marry Wulan, I think everything will be fine as long as no one opens their mouth. What difference does it make to marry someone else, if one day the secret will be revealed? As long as the secret is not revealed, I think Papa will be safe, unless someone breaks it to Wulan and her mother."
Handoko's face turned flat. "Something seems wrong."
"What's wrong, Pa?"
"You think, um Jefry told papa to eliminate Benny. Now, he's married to Benny's ex-wife and taking care of his son. Don't you think that's weird?"
