Does It Have to End

“Sial!”

Evelyn cursed when she woke up from her sleep and realized that it was now eight in the morning. The woman jumped out of bed, then grabbed her phone.

Evelyn's eyes are perfectly rounded when she sees that there are countless missed calls from Leo and short messages asking about his whereabouts and whether or not he will come to the party.

“Sial!” speak of Evelyn again.

Due to a deep sleep, Evelyn does not remember that she has to come to the new year party that Leo held for her. He even wondered why he could forget about the party when they had discussed it from far away.

Evelyn called Leo immediately. Hope Leo doesn't get mad at him for his mistakes. Evelyn bites the tip of her fingernails while waiting for her phone to be picked up. However, until the last ring the phone was not picked up by Leo. Evelyn again contacted Leo, but the result was the same, nil. Although Leo never responded, Evelyn kept trying to reach him until her patience ran out and thought of a name in her delicacy that might have planned it all.

Evelyn quickly walked out of the room, then ran down the stairs screaming for her husband.

“Nick! Nick!” his yell. “Where are you, Nick?!”

Evelyn walked jerking her feet towards the dining room. There, she sees Nick feeding their son.

“Nick, why did you let me sleep last night? You deliberately kept me from leaving?” evelyn asked, venting her frustration to Nick.

“Good morning, Mommy,” said Alden, their son.

Evelyn ignored Alden's greeting. He just focused on staring intently at Nick while folding his hands in front of his chest. She is upset that she missed the party held by Leo, and she feels that it was all Nick's fault. In fact, what happened was his own fault because Nick knew nothing about the party.

“Nick, answer!” scream Evelyn.

“What's up?” reply Nick at the end.

Nick was silent because he was waiting for Evelyn to answer Alden's greeting. Nick wanted to know if Evelyn still cared about their son or not. But, the painful reality must be accepted Nick. Evelyn did not return their son's greeting.

"You intentionally?" Evelyn.

"What intentional?" ask Nick.

Evelyn rolled her eyeballs. “Forget it,” he said then returned to his room.

In the room, he called Leo back. Many times he called Leo, there was no answer from the man. Evelyn was annoyed, not usually Leo ignored his call. Usually, he doesn't have to wait long to get an answer from Leo. But this morning was different. Evelyn thought that Leo must be angry because he didn't come to the new year's party.

‘Why last night can I fall asleep?’ ask Evelyn inwardly.

“Leo, please. Pickupphone. Please don't be mad at me,” Evelyn said nervously while biting the tip of her fingernails.

Meanwhile, Alden looked at Nick with teary eyes.

“Dad, why didn't Mommy answer me?” tanyanya sad. “Does Mommy hate me?”

Nick turned to his son. “No, Alden. Your mommy is just tired and upset that I didn't wake her up early for breakfast together,” Nick replied, covering up what really happened from her son.

“If so, why didn't Daddy catch up with Mommy and apologize?” ask Alden plain.

“Should I do it?” ask Nick back.

Alden nodded. “I think so,” answered.

“Alright, I'll catch up with your Mommy,” reply Nick then kiss the top of Alden's head. “Be a good boy and finish your meal, okay?”

“OK, Dad!”

Nick follows Evelyn to their room. Actually, he couldn't bear to constantly lie to Alden. But, a child as small as Alden certainly will not understand the problems of the household. So, he better cover it all up and make Alden think his family's okay.

Inside the room, she found Evelyn trying to call someone while pacing back and forth. Nick smiled wryly, he knew who Evelyn was contacting.

“Is the man so important that you ignore Alden and me?” ask Nick.

Evelyn turned her head, then rolled her eyes.

“How do you think?” reply Evelyn ketus.

Nick took his breath. “Eve, I don't mind if you're mad at me. But, one thing I ask of you. Don't ignore Alden. He's still too small to know about our problem,” pinta Nick.

“If you just want to say it's better you get out. I don't want to argue,” Evelyn said.

Nick took his breath. He shook his head and walked out of the room. She is confused as to what to do to make Evelyn love her again.

"Please don't ignore Alden!" pinta Nick who returned was ignored by Evelyn.

'Until when are you gonna be like this, Eve? Does all this have to end?' inner Nick frustrated.
