The Hunter System

The Hunter System
Chapter 111 - Frustrated City T Hunter

The best Hunter-hunters of City T stared at the gate that was three times larger than an A-ranked Dungeon gate with a blank mind.

If an A-ranked Dungeon alone had already frustrated them, it would have been frustrating, of course that S rank Dungeon left them unable to think anymore about what they would be able to do other than just keep watch outside the gate while enjoying the rest of their precious lives.

The S rank Dungeon that was famous for being so dangerous was not only providing threats from its monsters alone. Even the magic aura emanating from his Dungeon surroundings would be enough to make a C rank hunter instantly paralyzed from the pressure of powerful magic energy once they entered it.

.........

Robbie Cale noticed the frustrated faces of hunters from his guild who were willing to come to help. He did not force all of them to come, but there were 30 more A and B rank hunters from his guild who came willingly.

"But I didn't ask them to come help" Robbie said slowly.

"Me too" said Ivory as he stared at the 25 hunters from his guild who had also come willingly.

"You both should be proud. They show that they are true hunters. Look, there are only 5 hunters from my guild who came voluntarily," Revi McCoy said in an uninspired tone.

He did not force his members to come and did not expect if they really did not come. In fact, most of the hunters who did not come were the idol hunters of the citizens of T City.

"At least if we all die, City T will still have a hunter" Robbie said, half-jokingly.

"I hope they won't regret it after losing their comrades" Ivory responded with a serious face but he finally laughed softly.

"Tsk... They don't even care about City T. I don't think they'll care about old colleagues who fall here either" Revi lamented.

"Why are you talking about them? They're members of your guild. You should have forced them to come instead of complaining" Robbie said.

Revi laughed bitterly, responding to the joking doldrums of his two friends who were very bland.

"Well, obviously they're scared. Look, there's not even a citizen who gives us the spirit we used to be" Robbie said.

This time it was Ivory's turn to laugh.

"Even the journalists I usually avoid do not appear at all" Ivory said in a sad tone.

Unlike usual, the media crew who always came in droves to cover the news around the gate, this time did not see at all the stem of his nose.

That's why the gate area now looks very quiet.

The media crew who knew how dangerous an S rank gate was, chose not to cover around the gate.

They prefer to help the Association and the Government report the bad news from very far away locations while monitoring the situation around the gates through the live satellite footage the Association has provided them.

By broadcasting the bad news, the media indirectly also helped residents to carry out self-evacuation.

The news of the S rank Dungeon gate was spread all over City T. The residents self-conscious immediately conducted self-evacuation.

They knew, S rank Dungeons were not the same as other Dungeons. The S rank Dungeon only had 24 hours before its gate-locking magic opened and the monsters exited from it.

That's why no one dared to be around the gate. Therefore, many hunters from the Association and members of the military could not help in order to evacuate as they prepared to maintain security within a radius of 1–5 kilometers from where the gate was located.

......................

They were here just because they wanted to slightly slow down the pace of the monsters so as not to go too fast away from the gate area. At least they could prevent the monsters from destroying a wider area until help-hunters arrived.

“Mr Brown... Hows it? Is lord Rufino coming?” revi, who usually doesn't say much, asks when Lex finally arrives at the gate.

Lex smiled bitterly.

Revi McCoy gulped his saliva at the sight of the smile, thinking Alvin refused to come to help.

“Y-yes... What can I do...” said Revi by forcing his smile.

He knew, an S rank hunter alone would probably think repeatedly if asked for help to deal with an S rank Dungeon. Not because of payment, but because they love their own lives.

As it had happened several times, if there was an S rank Dungeon, there would normally be a Dungeon Break of at least 1–2 weeks before SS rank hunters from all over the world came and overcame it.

Everyone knew, it would take 12 SS rank hunters to overcome an S rank Dungeon, there should also be dozens of S rank hunters to help.

“Actually he's coming,” said Lex quietly. His voice was a little unclear because it had been stuck in his throat.

“What?!”

“He's on his way,” Lex added. His face is still wrinkled.

City T's best hunters stare at Lex, who is excited and too late to realize why the middle-aged man looks lethargic despite knowing Alvin is coming.

Alvin might just come to die.

They cannot be happy with his arrival. They should be ashamed of having to sacrifice a hunter from another city to die with them.

......................

It had been 2 hours since the appearance of the gate. Lex has also enlisted the help of the Central Association to contact the world's 12 best hunters to come to help, while they would stand guard around the gate only to try to slow down the speed of monsters if it had gone out of the gate.

Of course no one was stupid and dared to enter his Dungeon. Not only because the monsters were definitely terrifying, but because the magic aura within the Dungeon that was already guaranteed was terrifying.

The only way to be able to fight against them without the Dungeon's magic pressure was to let the monsters come and fight outside of the Dungeon.

So, the hunters only had to think about how to deal with them without worrying about being depressed by the terrifying magic aura of the Dungeon.

“By the way, where is Mr Paul? He is not the type of person who would escape from a dangerous situation like this, right?” ask Robbie.

“He's going to City S," Lex said.

“What did he pick up mister Rufino?” ask Ivory.

Lex was about to deny but he abandoned his intentions when he saw a dark-pink metallic sports car coming closer.

Shortly after, they see Alvin getting out of the car with a beautiful woman dressed as an idol.
