Meaning of a Memory 'Calico'

Hitchhiking at Kenzo Karrin's house was the right decision. A fragrant padded mattress and warm room space are the reasons Sean is reluctant to get up, but Kenzo Karrin enters the room and wrecks all of Sean's dreams with the Roses.

"Ah, I'm still sleepy!" Sean pulled the blanket high. Alongside Sean, Luis was also sleeping. Apparently the woman he met last night in Canaria was also ringing in his brain.

"Ehem." Another man's voice was thumping. "Wake up, otherwise I'll take your name off campus!"

The threat really didn't affect them, but a familiar voice left Sean's eyes open, a second later he blinked, in another second he began to realize something and one second the next Sean was aghast from the bed.

"Sir ... Mr Klano?" Sean's dream disappears when he sees someone behind Kenzo Karrin. It was Klano Rahendra. Apparently the psychopath painter was the one who brought lecturer Sean into his place.

In the living room of Kenzo Karrin's house, Sean is on trial with the two men in front of him. No one helped, not least Luis who still covered himself in the blanket.

"I heard you went to Canaria last night. Why would a student on a scholarship like you go to that place?" Mr. Klano said seriously. In fact, his expression was being bent stiff.

Sean turned to look at Kenzo Karrin with a look of dislike. How could he complain to Mr. Klano, while last night Sean had given a truthful explanation. Sean's annoyance had no effect on Kenzo Karrin, the man looked relaxed as if he was closing his eyes to Sean's difficulties.

Lazy to give an explanation, Sean took out a canvas cloth that had been stored last night. “Name ‘Spring of Canaria’. I picked up the object of one of the women in that place.”

Mr. Krano and Kenzo Karrin seem interested. They lifted the canvas so they could see it up close.

“Must be, how can you do it?” mr. Klano's protest felt rivaled. The man looked at Kenzo Karri as if he was accusing his name of being behind Sean's ability. “Did you give all your knowledge to him?”

Kenzo was half shocked and reflexively returned the gaze with utter denial. “Of course I didn't do it. I side with him because he does have the quality of self.”

“So true, Sean's painting has high value?” Pak Klano's eyebrows dropped with astonished expressions.

“You doubt my protege? His paintings have been successfully sold at a value in a matter of millions. Minimum ten million. You don't suspect it, do you?”

The conversation between the two men made Sean's presence transparent. The main character in this matter seemed completely unregarded.

Their debate continued on a different topic. Currently, Mr. Klano and Kenzo Karrin are fighting over the painting ‘Spring of Canaria’. Mr. Krano plans to hang the painting at the exhibition, while Kenzo Karrin insists on offering the painting to collectors.

All the debates were endless and managed to upset Sean. The young man decided not to give 'Spring of Canaria' to any of them.

When Luis wakes up and comes into the living room, Sean has other thoughts.

“I'll give ‘Spring of Canaria’ to Luis.” Sean's decision seemed round with a determined look.

A sharp look from the two men looked at each other and turned to Luis' arrival. Luis, who is half in reality left behind in the dream world, can only work on not understanding. “What? What will you give me?”

“This painting.” Sean points at a painting of a naked woman in Canaria. “I'll give you ‘Spring of Canaria’ for free.”

“A-me?” Luis' finger pointed at himself with a clueless expression.

Like the fall of duren, Luis was so lucky. He had obtained Sean's painting which had been contested by Mr. Krano and Kenzo Karrin with his enthusiasm.

As all began to dissect and calm again Kenzo Karrin explained the arrival of Pak Klano. He had the lecturer come to take Sean and Luis back to the dormitory. However, Sean refuses after learning that Kenzo Karrin must go to pick up Ellian and Alice at Elmi Carens' villa.

Mr. Klano and Luis left first and Sean is still stuck. In front of the painting ‘Bood of a Patriot’ by Kenzo Karrin, his black eyes are in the air.

"What are you doing in front of my painting?” kenzo Karrin asked after seeing Sean only in front of the painting.

Sean strayed from his daydreams and returned Kenzo Karrin's gaze. “What do you think of when you paint this?”

Although it does not understand all Kenzo Karrin's explanations, but his paintings have explained in detail Kenzo's description in detail.

“You bought all your paintings and kept them in the warehouse, but you left ‘Blood of Patriot’ in this place, is it because you can't avenge your hatred?” Of all the feelings of Kenzo Karrin, Sean was so profound. Five hours into the villa, Kenzo's sedan was silent. None of them intended to start a conversation first. They all locked their mouths and stared far away at the view outside the window.

The silence vanished as the car had arrived at the villa. Ellian and Alice were already standing in front to welcome Kenzo and Sean.

“Kakak, we have been waiting for you for a long time.” welcome Ellian with her scolding.

Kenzo Karrin just said a word of apology and immediately helped bring their luggage into the trunk.

Alice approached Sean. “Sean, my grandmother wants to meet you.”

“I?” Sean was a little surprised by Alice's words, but he tried to understand the situation. “Ah, I understand.”

The two men went inside the villa and met Elmi Carens. The old woman he saw looked pensively on the rocking chair and a painting was on her lap. His wrinkled full fingers touched gently on the surface of the painting.

“Grandmother, Sean has arrived.” After bringing Sean in, Alice immediately withdrew and left them in the room.

“Sean, are you coming?” ask Elmi Carens.

“Sean approached in front of the old woman. “True, Mistress. Alice says that you want to meet me.”

“True, come here.” After hearing the instructions from Elmi Carens, Sean approached and the old woman gave the painting that was on her lap. “The name of this painting is 'Calico'. This is the last painting and the most valuable painting for me.”

Sean did not know the story behind the painting, but as his gaze looked deeper, he could only see the painting by the river against the backdrop of the twilight sky. It was a bit understandable because the scene from the painting was the scene they had painted together before they parted ways.

“Why did you give it?” Sean just pours out his curiosity.

Elmi Carens was supposed to keep a memory painting with her husband, but unreasonably, she gave it to Sean.

“That's because you've made me realize that my memories with my husband stay where we've been. The painting is just a painting and the memories will still be eternal even if not by painting" explained Elmi Carens with teary eyes. Despite not being able to see the painting, the memories with her husband were still etched clearly into the memories.

Sean was a little overburdened to accept the painting before they returned home.

In the car, Kenzo Karrin fails to use his butcher eye as a curator.

“I can't predict this painting,” says.

Sean didn't need that answer because he knew that the 'Calico' painting was priceless to Elmi Carens.

“I will hang it well in the storage room after returning home,” said Sean who continues to look at the beauty of ‘Calico’.
