Memory of 'Cotton Candy'

Today, Sean was completely drowned in class. How not, he had to complete tasks that were as numerous as ants lined up. The lecturer gave many tasks, it did not include Sean's duties outside of education. He must become a teacher for Ellian and become a student for Kenzo Karrin. Worse, he had to be the duty slave of the system. Sean's really traumatized the system.

Sean was silent for a moment with the familiar name the system mentioned. “Elizabeth Chang?”

The young man's eyes widened as he realized the figure of the owner of the name. Elizabeth Chang is a famous English-Chinese painter who blends both cultures together. His paintings are often hung in various large exhibitions and purchased at fantastic prices.

How could the system make such a mission? There was no way a famous painter like Elizabeth Chang would accept a painting from an amateur youth like Sean?

Sean went back to looking for a crack in the system and smiled to himself. True, the system only wrote to hand over the painting and there was no specific information that Elizabeth Chang should accept it. Sean's shame is at stake in this mission.

After attending class, Sean returned to the dorm. It didn't look Luis there, he was busy preparing for the year-end event.

Seeing the state of being quiet, Sean did not waste his opportunity to be alone, he used the ability of ‘Spider Hand’ to complete his task quickly.

Despite completing his task quickly, it still had an effect on Sean's tired hands. Actually, he does not want to do it again, but to avoid the mission Sean was looking for stock canvas his. 

There weren't many blank canvas in Sean's room, just two small canvas pieces. However, Sean did not undo his intentions. He actually took a canvas with a size of 20x10 centimeters and polish the paint on the object.

The smaller the size of the canvas, the faster Sean worked on it without the hassle of painting a large field. With this the mission will be quickly completed.

“Alright, ‘Cotton Candy’!” sean burned his spirit

After finishing the painting, Sean was forced to dry the paint with a hair dryer. He did not have time to wrap it up and went straight to the exhibition using a taxi.

At exactly seven o'clock in the evening, the Rich Palm building will be crowded with visitors. They are artists, curators, collectors or rich people who want to spend their money on a painting from Elizabeth Chang.

Seeing that didn't make Sean back off. For Sean, he did not belong to the category of people who were looking for paintings from Elizabeth Chang. His mission was only one, giving Elizabeth Chang her paintings.

In that place, the plain walls were filled with unusual paintings. In keeping with its distinctive features, all paintings are a form of fusion between British and Chinese cultures. However, Sean had no interest in going around, he was looking for Elizabeth Chang.

Sean waited for a moment of silence, but they did not give a single second chance to Elizabeth Chang herself. Not long after the famous painter left the crowd and headed to the toilet.

It was an opportunity for Sean to complete his mission, the young man followed Elizabeth Chang and waited for her in front of the toilet. By the time the woman came out, Sean had already stood up and blocked her path.

“Sorry to bother you, but I have something I will give you,” Sean said.

The 40-year-old didn't seem surprised, she smiled kindly and thought that Sean was one of her fans. “Thank you, I will accept it with pleasure.”

She really is a friendly woman. Sean could not help but be embarrassed as Elizabeth Chang looked at the painting. However, sean returned to his destination, this time the mission only gave ‘Cotton Candy’ to Elizabeth Chang.

Sean immediately gave a small painting to the woman before him, and indeed the reaction from Elizabeth Chang was unexpected.

Elizabeth Chang looked at the painting deeply, her bright eyes looking teary-eyed. He brought Sean's painting closer and cried.

Sean has no idea what happened, the woman cries over Sean's painting for no reason.

“You painted this?” elizabeth asked after her cries eased a little. “Ah, what's your name?”

“Sean Herdian,” replied Sean who could not figure out the current situation.

The woman smiled bitterly, her two eyes reflected a deep sadness and she rubbed Sean's head gently. “Thank you, this is really a valuable painting for me.”

How can a famous painter call a painting of an amateur a valuable work? This time Sean doubted Elizabeth Chang's sanity, but before it all dragged on, a bespectacled man walked up to him.

“Sean? What are you doing in this place?” The voice of Kenzo Karrin ripped the foggy mood of Elizabeth. Realizing that someone else was known, Kenzo Karrin again greeted Elizabeth Chang. “Hallo, Madame. What happened in this place?”

“See this, Ken!” the woman showed Sean's painting to Kenzo. “I really feel happy because this young man gave it to me.”

Kenzo Karrin did not comment, the man just looked at Sean deeply.

From this, it is clear that Kenzo and Elizabeth Chang have known each other. However, the man's whereabouts did not seem to affect the mood of Elizabeth Chang.

“Sean there is one request from me, can you do it?” elizabeth asked Sean with a nod.

“Can I hug you?” Elizabeth's request leaves Sean dumbfounded. Nevertheless, he assented and the woman immediately hugged him tightly.

Not knowing what was going on, Sean could only look at Kenzo who kept paying attention to the scene. He gave Sean a code to let Elizabeth Chang hold him for longer.

After an unexpected turn of events between Sean and Elizabeth Chang, Kenzo escorts her back in a black sedan. However, beside the wheel, Sean just kept quiet and did not find an explanation for Elizabeth to do the unexpected.

“How can you give that ‘Cotton Candy’ painting to her?” Kenzo Karrin begins the conversation.

Sean turned his head and did not want to give an explanation, he turned around to ask. “Why does Elizabeth Chang cry like that?”

Kenzo was silent and seemed to be considering what he was going to say to Sean, but in the end the man just let out a sigh.

“13 year ago Elizabeth Chang had a small son aged 5 years. When she was sick, Elizabeth had to attend a big exhibition and before her mother left, her son had a request to buy cotton candy on his mother.” Suddenly the atmosphere around Sean suppressed his feelings, but the man went back to Kenzo's explanation. “But before Elizabeth Chang came back and she got a news that her son was dead. It was then that he was truly sorry and that Cotton Candy painting might evoke memories with his son.

Hearing all the stories behind Sean's painting, the young man fell silent again and could not comment. Sean also regretted not giving the painting he did with all his heart to Elizabeth Chang. 

Back then, Sean promised himself to actually paint with solemnity!
