Sean and Ellian come to Alice's house to listen to her grandmother's request. However, Alice says that her grandmother lives in the family villa.
The next day, Kenzo Karrin drove them away to meet Alice's grandmother. The distance traveled is not close, 6 hours with hilly terrain to reach the destination.
"Areally in this place?" Outside the window, Kenzo saw nothing but a tea plantation.
From the back seat, Alice pointed at a building standing in the middle of the tea garden. "True, that's the place."
The car drove like what Alice had directed and made it to a classic building that had a spacious courtyard.
They all descended and were greeted by a middle-aged woman. Alice introduced him as Bi Irma as a villa manager who has worked for decades in this place.
"Go in first, Non. He's been waiting for her on the back porch." After greeting them, Ms. Irma let in and brought the guests to meet Elmi Carens.
Inside the villa, Sean could notice a roomy room on one side of the wall hanging several paintings. Rows of paintings have the same type, namely naturalism, where paintings show the natural scenery as painted objects.
"Is all this a painting of him?" Sean's sudden question, made their attention all switch. Ms. Irma who was in front turned to look at the painting that Sean meant.
There were about 15 paintings that Sean saw on that side of the road and all of the paintings had the same initials and different years.
The painting of the mountains near the entrance is written in 1960, the next painting is written in 1965, 1970, 1975 .. That means all these paintings are painted with a span of 5 years.
From every 5 years, Sean is the only person who realizes the difference from each time.
Although all the paintings are themed panoramic nature, but they have different techniques. The oldest painting age using a wet technique is mixing paint with oil.
The big difference happened 20 years later. Painting with wet technique was changed by mixed technique. Like the example of a sunflower painting named, 'Mr. Sunshine uses dry techniques on the subject and wet techniques on the background. However, later paintings began to abandon the old technique and changed using dry techniques. In fact, Sean was able to find a striking texture in a 2010 painting.
"True, he started his career as a painter at the age of 20 and he hung every painting from the beginning of his career until before his vision was disturbed" explained Ms. Irma.
"40 years ago? You quite understand his situation all that time." Sean commented again.
"Sean, previously, the mother of Bu Irma who first worked in this villa, but when she was old, Ms. Irma who replaced her job, said Alice behind Sean.
Sean just nodded while imagining each generation of Ms. Irma serving for Elmi Carens.
"There's more I want to ask." Sean asked Ms. Irma again. "When exactly did his vision begin to be impaired? Did it coincide with the death of her husband?"
Everyone in the place was astonished Sean. It was not usual for the young man to ask about someone's personal life. However, Ms. Irma did not seem to mind. He seemed to be thinking about Sean.
"True, the moment after her husband's death she complained about his impaired vision and ended her career as a painter. The doctor said that he had a cataract that was chronic enough to be incurable." Ms. Irma answered Sean's question again.
Without hearing the slightest explanation from Sean, they leave with an initial goal, meeting with former painter Elmi Carens.
On the back porch, an old woman was pensively pensive on a rocking chair. At nearly 70 years old, Elmi Carens looks like any other elderly woman, but her gray iris and impaired vision make her appear more fragile.
Hearing the sound of a step coming, Elmi Carens tried to recognize the rare voice. “Alice?”
Alice immediately approached him and gave him a hug. The old woman's gaze was shifted to the other voices around her.
“Who is with you? Did you bring the young man you told me about?” Elmi Carens looked enthusiastic, she shook Alice's arm impatiently.
Seeing that, both Sean, Ellian, Kenzo Karrin came over to greet and introduce themselves. When Elmi Carens learns of Sean's arrival, she turns to the young man, as if Sean is the man she's been waiting for.
“My grandson told me everything, he said that you could paint objects that you had never seen before. I really want you to paint something for me. Please, paint me the memories of my life.”
Sean was helpless to see a once famous painter pleading with him. However, the plea made no sense to Sean. He would never be able to paint the memories of someone he never knew. It's just ... when he saw the paintings by Elmi Carens made him know, what Sean had to do for it.
“I'll try.” That was the short word Sean said.
Sean's hopeful remarks greeted Elmi Carens with a flowery expression, but not Kenzo Karrin. He turns to dragging Sean and demands a protest of his actions.
“You crazy, Sean? How can you support the wishes of Elmi Carens?” Kenzo Karrin's face was already horned and soon he would become a bull in the gladiatorial arena ready to butcher Sean. “Don't give her false hope, you won't be able to paint what Elmi Carens wants. Surrender please!”
“Remember, we came all the way to this place not to give up. I know how to solve his wish" hardened Sean who left Kenzo and turned to meet Ellian.
"Ellian, rest with Alice here. There's a place I have to go with your brother" said Sean before leaving for Ms. Irma.
The two men seemed to be talking seriously. Not long after they went to another room and there Ms. Irma showed a photo of the deceased from Elma Carens' husband.
"Edwin Carens is the name of her husband. Her husband runs a tea garden and often takes his wife for a walk around this place. Often he brought his painting equipment and went together to paint in various places around the villa." Ms. Irma again showed her a collection of photos of the two of them with a beautiful natural setting.
"Can you take us to a place she used to go with her husband?" Sean's words get a contradiction from Kenzo Karrin. The man pulled his hand and looked at Sean sharply.
"What are you gonna do? Isn't drawing a picture of her with her husband enough?" Kenzo Karrin protests against Sean.
With ease Sean just shook his head and smiled as if he had pocketed the painting what Elmi Carens wanted.
The debate between the two men was won by Sean. Kenzo Karrin had no other choice but to escort Sean and Bu Irma to some place not far from the villa.
