"Your parents and husband are dead."
"Haha. What kind of joke is that? Don't joke, Bryan. I'm being serious," I deny with a mocking laugh.
"I'm serious too."
In disbelief, but Bryan's face looked serious. Then how can I trust him if I've been seeing Raihan's mas all this time?
If it's a matter of in-laws, I haven't seen them in a long time. It can still be tolerated. But of course I can't just accept Bryan's words so easily. I need proof.
"I can't believe." I shook my head while taking a few steps back intending to leave from there.
"I'll drop you off if you still want to go to your in-laws' house. I have to make sure you're okay."
After weighing up some possibilities, I finally agreed to Bryan's offer. He guided me to the matic motorbike I parked with the origin.
"Eh, Via. Who is that?" ask the owner when he accidentally saw us shaking hands.
"Sama temen, ma'am," I said. My mind is like it's not in its place right now.
I remember the strange events that happened to Raihan and the attitude of the people I met lately.
Bryan immediately gasped before the homeowner asked further. The closer we got to my in-laws' house, the faster the heart beat went. My breath was immediately choked watching the house that looked unkempt in front there.
The house that usually looks clean and neat now looks like it is not touched at all with the police line in front of it.
"A-what's—" I couldn't go on with the words when Bryan stopped the bike in front of the house I knew belonged to my in-laws.
Bryan looked back, making sure I was okay.
"Thus ... You serious?" I ask him to make sure again. I hope he's kidding. But the reality before my eyes seemed to have answered the question I asked.
"They were killed, Via," said Bryan slowly. But it sounded like thunder that boomed and directly pierced into my eardrum. Until they managed to make both buzz.
I was still silently silent with beads of eyes staring fixedly at the abandoned building. Passed through the police line very slowly until it finally stopped in front of the entrance.
Tok Tok Tok
"Assalamu'alaikum .... " With a loud voice and trembling hands I said my greetings while knocking on the door.
No answer at all. There was only sobs coming from lips that could not be held back. Those selfless tears had also crossed both of my cheeks smoothly.
Brugh.
"Is this real?" lirihku riled.
"Via's."
The weak voice and warm palms touching my shoulders did not stop my activities from pouring out sadness through tears. Although I have not seen the reality directly, but why does my heart feel so painful?
This pain has hurt me more and more. My roar escaped from the lower lip that had swelled because I kept biting to muffle the crying. Who am I supposed to lie to now?
"Already, Via. Do you want me to take you to the graves of your in-laws and your husband?" bryan tried to entertain.
But it only made me more angry.
"My parents-in-law and my husband?! They're not dead, Bryan! I'm sure they're still inside." I stood facing Bryan while pointing at his chest.
Seeing through my tails, some neighbors who had come out of their homes watched us with pity.
"But, Via—"
"I'll prove what I say." I turned around and immediately pressed the door handle that turned out the door was not locked.
It just entered with the pedal, but the house was so dusty and messy. Some memories while still living in this house had crossed. Making my step back in doubt.
"Via .... "
"Shut up! I'll call them. Mammy? Daddy's? Raihan? You must be inside, right?" I kept on walking into the house. Ignoring Bryan who kept calling from behind.
"Mother? Daddy's? Mas?" I kept calling them as I checked every room with shaky steps.
When almost desperate, I arrived at a room that felt awkward. Where the dried blood soiled the ceramic floor in the middle of the room. I approached him and sat whistling with my fingers touching the floor right where the blood was.
"Haha." I don't know what's funny. But when I saw the dried blood it was like tickling the stomach.
"Via, let's just get out of here. You—Via!!" Bryan's voice from the back panicked, but I didn't care.
"Haha." It even hardened my laughter even more, until it echoed throughout the room.
Then suddenly the pain came to my head, making the view instantly twitchy. Then it's all dark. Only Bryan's voice called out my name could still be heard even though it was faint.
"Bas a fucking liar!" my circus was for who, before being completely unconscious with my body control.
