The Tomb Next to the House

The Tomb Next to the House
29. Adoration Room

"I remember the last place I went before I woke up, Mas. Old warehouse behind Mr. Kades' house. Yeah, I can't be wrong."

After saying the clue, Raihan and I went to Mr. Kades' house to prove that my words were true. Like earlier. The mansion had no guards at all.

It made it easier for us to sneak into the backyard. Strange indeed. A house of this size is absolutely no guard or just a housekeeper, even a gardener to clean.

"Where, Dek?" ask Raihan to walk behind me impatiently.

"That's you know, Mas. You didn't see?" point me with my index finger towards a wooden door disguised by vines and weeds as tall as an adult's waist.

Mas Raihan squinted his eyes so that he could see clearly in the direction I was pointing. "Oh, it's like an abandoned wooden room. Maybe there was something in it. It's also eaten by termites."

"We'll check first, ma'am."

Raihan walked ahead of me. Approaching the building, then try to open the wooden door while occasionally turning towards the house Mr. Kades. Just in case someone is watching us from there.

"Focus just open the door, Mas. Just break it down if you have to. Let me keep an eye on the situation" I suggested. Replied by him.

Too reckless indeed. Considering we're just the two of us. But the curiosity that we both feel, neutralizes all forms of fear.

Brak! Brak!

"Have you not, Mas?" my insistence. Afraid of people inside the house hearing the commotion we generated.

"Patience, Deck. The wood is so sturdy. This super quality."

Brak! Brak! Krakk!

Some hard breaks make the slightly weathered wood crack in some places. This was used by Raihan to peek through the gaps he produced.

"Astaghfiullah! You really are, Dek. There's a lit candle and a big crate in there." Raihan was surprised.

Krakk! Krakk!

Open that gap to get wider. It allowed us to enter the strange room.

Brak!

Suddenly an impervious wooden door holding back the onslaught of my husband's burly hand collapsed and shattered on the ground. Raihan came in first. Leaving me who was still observing around.

"Mas, wait for dong!" my nag. Followed my husband from behind.

"Eh, Mum. Wanna what?Do not mess around," I rebuked as Raihan came forward to pull the red cloth on the chest.

"Sure something," he said indifferently.

"Don't, Mas. What danger?"

"Sttts... There it is." Mas Raihan put an index finger on his lips.

Srett!

Pull the red cloth, then throw it just on the floor. It was a very serious face shown by my husband. Even the sweat on his forehead seemed shiny as it was illuminated by the flame of the candle dancing in the direction of the wind.

His slightly shaking hands touched the padlock that tightly locked the crate.

"Damn! Where's key?" he said, realized he could not open the dark brown chest.

Wanting to be poked also seems impossible. The padlock looks like it's new. I looked around the room. Hope to find what we're looking for. Nil. There's nothing here.

"It looks like Mr. Kades is carrying the key. Or maybe Bryan?" my proposal.

"Looks like. But I wonder what's inside this box. If my guess is correct, it means that this has something to do with all the strange things and some prohibitions in this village," said Raihan who made me confused.

Without me realizing it turns out my husband knows more things than I have an inner eye.

"What's the guess, what's it?"

"The family of Mr. Kades is performing a satanic cult ritual."

"What?! That's right!" My eyes widened perfectly looking at Raihan's serious face.

"So about that tumble, the culprit—"

"Hey! Who're y'all?! What are you guys doing there?!" The baritone sound from the direction of the door shocked the two of us. Makes my speech cut.

We turned our heads to the source of the angry voice. We saw bright red eyes looking at us in turn. Then his gaze stopped on the crate whose cloth cover had ended on the ground we were on.

"How dare you!"
