The martial competition in the framework of the project returned the spirit of Albert disguised as the celebration of Helion's first birthday was started.
Although it was a martial competition, all the participants who qualified were a swordsman, seven swords masters and one magic swordsman.
The first match started between Albert and Vultan, the successor to the grand duke of grand duchy Ignitia, my cousin's brother.
Kak Vultan is a swordsman with a slim sword type that is adapted to his fighting style that prioritizes agility, especially he is only a level 3 swords master. It is clear who will be the winner.
With Albert's heavy fighting style with solid defense, there was no chance for Kak Vultan to break through his defenses. Albert excels from all sides ranging from physical, defense, and stamina. In a short time, Kak Vultan will definitely lose soon.
And as expected, however Kak Vultan looking for a gap in Albert's defense with his rapid motion, Albert did not give any chance for it. Then when he let his guard down for a second in the air, Albert without hesitation returned his attack. Kak Vultan was immediately defeated by a single blow from Albert's sword that made him fall and tinker over and over again.
However, Albert's opponent in the semifinals will definitely no longer be that easy. One of his opponent candidates is the only magic swordsman in this competition, Olbero Chalkie Obraham. She was much weaker than Alice by the wind element, but she was able to sharpen each of her slashes through the strengthening of her wind element aura which was many times sharper than ordinary aura.
His opponent in the opening match was Adam, Luciana's bodyguard who went with him whom he had brought from his former palace at Vlonhard.
But when the game started, I was really surprised by the result. The magic swordsman actually lost against Adam. He lost because he was unable to prepare his magic skill which became his mainstay as a magic swordsman well. That was because Adam's movements were very fast, many times faster than Kak Vultan before. As soon as it was realized, the sharp sword had been right around the neck of the magic swordsman.
Since this was a competition that forbade killing, then Adam stopped his attack before it would precisely slash the magic swordsman's neck and instead immediately ask him to surrender.
Then in the third match, apparently there was also a surprise. Uncle Ferrunt and Damian were both level 5 swords masters, but Uncle Ferrunt was over double Damian's age, which means Uncle Ferrunt's experience in fighting should be more than Damian's. However, it was Damian who came out as the winner.
The factor is more towards the sword style Uncle Ferrunt who is honest and straight, similar to Albert so that the match becomes very bad for Damian attack that seems sneaky and tricky.
In the fourth match, there were no surprises. It was a fight between the grand duke of the Cabalcus region, Stephanus van Cabalcus, against the imperial military chief, Alcus von Maxwell. Their level difference was separated by two levels, it was only natural that Uncle Alcus would eventually come out victorious.
Arrived in the semifinals. In the first round, it was a fight between Albert and Adam. Rather than a swordsman, maybe Adam's way of fighting was closer to a thief or assassin who relied on speed, trickery, and stealthy movements.
Actually, instead of Adam, I want Olbero, the magic swordsman who will fight Albert in this semi-final fight. Thus, when defeating him, perhaps it could slightly treat his sense of inferiority to magic swordsmen like Alice.
Well, but retraining the sharpness of Albert's skill felt the opponent's evil intentions as he often had in the rundown palace with me was not a bad thing either. Moreover, Adam's killing intent was very, very thin, even I needed to concentrate more to be able to feel it.
Adam was not an easy opponent for Albert. Albert seemed a little difficult to detect the air of his existence. But it also happens the opposite. Adam had a very difficult time breaking through Albert's very solid defense.
Adam applied a pattern of attack and run. However, Albert's stamina wasn't drained at all because of it. He remained calm as if he had gotten used to the type of opponent like Adam. Until one day, it was Adam who ran out of stamina first.
As soon as Albert detected it, he immediately attacked it with an extension of his sword aura. It seems that Albert can guess the pattern of Adam's movements that if he is noticed, he still can not eliminate the weakness of certain repetitive movements so that it can easily be used by Albert as his advantage.
Well I'm sure, rather than Albert predicting it, it's more in the direction of his instincts of course since I've been with him for a long time more knowing that Albert is a muscle brain that prioritizes instinct in fighting than his brain.
The first semi-final match went without any problems with being won by Albert. Then coming on in the second semi-final match, it was a fight between Damian and Uncle Alcus.
Uncle Alcus was a level 6 swords master, while Damian had recently entered the realm of level 5 swords master. It might be an easy win for Uncle Alcus, but I can't guess for sure about Damian's trick-filled fighting moves.
The fight started with Damian attacking first Uncle Alcus' solid defense. Uncle Alcus managed to survive well and immediately at the same time doing a counter attack. Damian maneuvered to avoid Uncle Alcus's sword slash attack. He immediately poked Uncle Alcus's foot to upset his balance. However, regarding the thick aura that protected Uncle Alcus' feet, it seems Damian failed to execute his plan.
As a follow-up to his failed plan, Damian jumped into the air in the direction where the sunlight shone. Uncle Alcus was fooled by the gesture and instantly exposed his eyes to the glare of direct sunlight. Well, it is a trick strategy that is not uncommon we see again in the mercenary group.
Damian also used that one or two seconds to flap Uncle Alcus' face with his legs reinforced by his aura. Unexpectedly, it could pierce through the aura shrouding Uncle Alcus' face regarding the Damian aura on his sharpened leg.
But that is what Damian was waiting for. Damian had set up an aura trap while surrounding Uncle Alcus earlier which caused some flow veins where Uncle Alcus was injured which instantly reduced the efficiency of his aura output.
Then Damian advanced with a swift straight-motion slash. But it was again a trick move as the attack was actually an extension of the aura that broke through to the side of Uncle Alcus.
Uncle Alcus was blown out of the arena without him being able to defend himself. Based on the rules of the game, there are three conditions that can lead to defeat. First it was fainting, second it was giving up, then third it was out of the arena, and that's what happened to Uncle Alcus.
Damian came out as the winner in the second round of the semifinal which automatically brought him to meet Albert in the final round.
But nevertheless, the,
“I surrender. It seems that the internal injuries caused by the Captain just now were too severe that it could not be healed by the healer completely.”
Damian gave up in the match even before the final.
Albert won the competition as well.
Albert won as I planned to restore his fading spirit.
But why do I feel a little bitter end to the result of the match? Was my usually sharp premonition this time wrong?
***
Helios had no idea that it had all been planned by Damian from the beginning. Damian cleverly engineered the results of the match with his cunning without anyone realizing it including the match participants themselves who had actually entered the control of Damian's manipulation.
Damian deliberately won to the final round then deliberately gave up also in the final round when meeting Albert. It's all just to mess with Albert's feelings. With him doing so, Helios' plan to get Albert back into his spirits will fail.
Exactly what exists is the opposite. Albert will be overshadowed by the feeling of guilt at the victory that he did not actually deserve that would even result in frustration Albert increasingly become-so.
Damian knew from the beginning of Helios' plan and so desired to deceive him by turning the results of his plan one hundred and eighty degrees the opposite of that goal.
All for the sake of Helios's despair.
On the other hand, Helios also did not understand correctly Albert's feelings.
Albert was once frustrated about his weakness when compared to Alice and Yasmin. But he thought that as long as he worked hard, all of it would be able to cope.
But just after the war was over, Albert finally learned the fact that it was Helios who had defeated the Grand Master Ethanus with his sword skills. Helios had been hiding her true class all this time as well to Albert. Helios is not a wizard, but an all-round champion class.
What does that mean for Albert and why is that what makes him so moody?
It was not about Helios hiding her secret to Albert who had regarded Helios as his own sister. That was because it meant that Helios had never needed a bodyguard from the start since she was an all-in-one fighter who could protect herself from all aspects.
Albert, who had always considered himself to be the bodyguard of Helios, now lost his only role which became the mainstay of his life.
Weakness can be overcome by practice, but what if from the beginning the talent is never needed? It would only end in deep despair.
