CHAPTRE. 02 - PRACTICING

”Ahk!”

”What's Yixuan?” asked Shin Buyen who looked anxious after hearing Shin Yixuan groan in pain from the knife that injured her wrist as she was carrying five knives in both hands.

”I'm fine! It's just a small wound.” Shin Yixuan said with a feeling of pleasure even though her wrist was bleeding.

Shin Buyen was getting more anxious because if the wound was left, Shin Yixuan might fall fever due to infection in the wound.

”Come! I will treat it first.” said Shin Buyen while pulling Shin Yixuan back to her courtyard terrace. He then took a cloth under his clothes and cleaned the dry and wet blood that was still attached to his Son's skin. ”... If left unchecked you'll have a fever. I don't want to see you fall ill for days.”

”Mother! I said I'm fine. Mom doesn't have to do this to me. If I keep complaining like this, when will I become strong?” said Shin Yixuan while whining at him.

Shin Buyen then looked towards Shin Yixuan who was in front of him. Slowly, he smiled and touched his face once in a while. ”... Your health and safety are the most important things here. You will not be able to get stronger if you are sickly like this.” he said.

”But, Mom! I want to practice soon!” chirp Shin Yixuan as the new Shin Buyen will wrap her wound in a thin cloth.

”Patience for a moment. I will teach you after this.” he said while tying it neatly so as not to miss. Then, moments later, he finished and returned Shin Yixuan's hand back.

”Mother is done! Then hurry! Teach me how to throw a knife properly!” exclaimed Shin Yixuan who immediately ran into the middle of the backyard filled with thick and tall grasses.

Shin Buyen walked up to him and stopped right behind him. He then knelt there holding Shin Yixuan's hands together as if he was trying to direct her. ”... A second later, the two of them simultaneously threw a knife and in an instant, the knife managed to stick on a large tree trunk that grew a little further away from them.

”See! I got it!” exclaimed Shin Yixuan who looked happy when she saw him.

Shin Buyen was also happy when she saw him. He then stroked Shin Yixuan's head and said, ”... Now try to repeat. Follow what I told you earlier. You can definitely hit it easily.”

Shin Yixuan tried to hear and remember what Shin Buyen said to her earlier. He tried to release the knife to hit the tree in front of him. For a few seconds he continued to start to attack. Soon, he also let go. However, the knife could not touch the tree and landed on the ground, not far from where the tree stood.

Seeing that, Shin Yixuan grew even more moody and immediately stood facing Shin Buyen. ”... Mom, sorry. I can't do it right.” he said sadly.

At night, a quiet atmosphere occurred. The sky was dark and the beads were glowing when one looked at them from behind a window. Shin Yixuan woke up in her bed after she heard a sound like footsteps moving closer to her. The sound did not stop for a moment. At first he thought that the sound was coming from Shin Buyen who was passing through his room. However, he also felt astonished when he looked out the window, there was a large snake tail that was moving into the forest.

As he was very curious as to what the outside world was like, he jumped out the window and followed the sound of the snake walking into the forest. Because the atmosphere was so dark moreover, the moonlight was covered by the dense foliage that was in the forest, it had made Shin Yixuan difficult to look ahead. Then, suddenly a tree root appeared from the ground, causing him to fall forward as he was running.

”Aduh, duh. What was that? I can't see anything there.” muttered Shin Yixuan while wiping the blisters on her forehead from the impact with the ground earlier.

Tranquility had occurred for a while before finally, he heard a wolf moaning sound that was hiding behind the surrounding bushes.

Shin Yixuan looked wary when faced with the voice. He took a log that fell from a tree and made it a temporary weapon. After this, he may regret having gone against his own mother's words. He did not know that in this forest there was a crowd of hungry wolves. Different from the wolf he met during the day.

For a while, he kept quiet and listened to the voice. Over time, a pair of red eyes appeared that came from the darkness that was in front of him. He walked backwards and kept his distance from the look. Then, before long, the wolf pack that surrounded him from various directions finally started attacking him simultaneously.

When that happened, Shin Yixuan was unable to move and could only resign to the circumstances that would come next. However, along with that, came the big wolf that directly attacked the wolf crowd.

The large, sharp canine teeth then, the two sturdy-looking legs as well as his fiery red eyes in the middle of the night, were even three times larger in size than the wolf that was about to attack him. However, he never thought that this one wolf would save him and kill all the wolves that would almost rip his flesh.

”Mr wolf?”

Shin Yixuan looked at the pair of fiery red-colored eyes and fang teeth that were already covered in blood. His breath sounded terrifying and even, his footsteps alone had already made the ground he stepped on partially shattered.

At first, Shin Yixuan was afraid to face this wolf. However, in a short time, the wolf directly lowered its head so much that, making Shin Yixuan feel surprised.

”It turns out he's an excellent wolf.” Inner Shin Yixuan who directly touched the wolf's head. Then, a second later, the wolf turned into pieces of dust that flew into the sky and slowly, slowly, his figure turned into a shabby-clothed youth with brown hair that was so glowing with his golden-brown eyeballs like dusk.

”Thank you for saving me and for realizing my existence, young master.” said the young man slowly. And after he said that, he immediately fell to the ground and let Shin Yixuan bewildered as he did not know where she was coming from.
