Mary-san (female Meri-san) is a curious ghost in Japanese urban legend. The story of Mary-san is also known as "The Phone of Mary-san" (the one from Meri-san no denwa), which is a story of her own, it tells the story of a girl who feels haunted after getting a mysterious phone call from something claiming to be her beloved doll. The story contains a common theme in Japanese folklore and urban legends, namely the revenge of neglected favorite goods and the fear of feeling stalked from behind.
A girl has an overseas-made doll named Mary. The doll became his favorite doll. When he had to leave his old house to move to a new house, he decided to leave his Mary doll in the old house because it was worn out. One night, after a breakout in her new home, she gets a mysterious phone call from someone claiming to be her beloved doll, Mary: "I'm Mary. I'm in the trash." Even after he turned off the phone, the next mysterious call kept coming in, and it read, "I'm Mary. Now I'm near a cigarette shop." The next call reads, "I'm Mary. I'm in front of your house." With a feeling of fear mixed with curiosity, the girl immediately opened the front door of her house, but she saw no one there. The girl closed the door again, and a mysterious phone call was heard: "I'm Mary. I'm right behind you now."

In Japan, when we want to say hello on the phone using the word "Moshi-Moshi", never thought why should the word "Moshi" twice"?
In a Japanese legend, saying "Moshi-Moshi" is a way to prove that we are not ghosts. You see, he said the ghost can only say hello with the word "Moshi" once you~
And when the ghost says "Moshi" once, then we respond or return the greeting then our spirit will be taken by the ghost!
