Yukki-Onna

Yuki-onna ( ⁇ , literally "Snow Woman") is a spirit figure or yokai in Japanese folklore. He is a popular figure in Japanese literature, manga, and anime. She is sometimes referred to as Snow Girl ( ⁇ Yuki-musume), Snow White (yuki-onago), Snow Sundal (yukijoro), Snow Big Brother (yuki anesa), Snow Mother (yuki-omba), and Snow Mother, Snow Grandma (yukinba; from Ehime）,yuyukifuri-baba from (agano).

In the village in Musashi province, Japan, there lived two woodcutters named Mosaku and Minokichi. Mosaku is an old man, and Minokichi represents his successor who is still supporting the twelve years.

Every day they go to the forest which is about five miles from their village. On the way to the forest there was a big river flowing there, through a small boat. A while ago a bridge was also built where the small boat was located, but the bridge was often flooded. No other bridge can resist such circumstances when the air in the river overflows.

One time in a very cold illness, Mosaku and Minokichi were on their way to a great snow compilations house. They went to the small ship that was there, but did not find the owner of the boat - just left the ship alone on the river bank. It wasn't a good day for swimming, so the logger took refuge under the ship's owner's hut - grateful to find the hut. There was nothing in the hut, nor was there any place to make fire. It was just a hut with two tatami, a door and no windows. Mosaku and Minokichi opened the door and then lay inside to rest, still with a rain coat covering their bodies. At first they were no longer cold, and thinking about this storm was soon over.

The old man had almost fallen asleep, but the young Minokichi, still pleased after a long while, heard the roar of the noisy wind and the endless snowfall on their door. The river roared, and the hut swayed and squeaked like trash in the ocean. The storm was fierce, and the air around it grew colder. Minokichi curled up under his coat, but before long, with the air so cold he fell asleep as well.

He then woke up with a pile of snow in recovery. The door of the hut was already open, and from the light reflecting off the snow, he saw a woman inside the hut. A woman in white was leaning towards him and slashing her breath - her breath was bright as white. At about the same time, he compiles to see Minokichi, the woman who bowed her opponent before the young man. Minokichi screamed, but realized that he could not make the slightest sound. The woman turned the white and lowered her body again, bending down and down, until she finally managed to fix the young man. Minokichi looked at this woman, very beautiful, but the fear made Minokichi afraid. For a while he was still staring at Minokichi - then smiling, and whispering - “I want to treat you like another man, he said, but I can't accept your gratitude - because you're so young. You're a handsome young man, Minokichi, and I won't hurt you now. But, if you tell anyone - to your mother - about what you saw tonight, I will know it, and I will kill you ... Remember what I said! ”

With those words, this woman turned her body away from the young man, and passed through the door. At once Minokichi was able to move, and then immediately moved out, looking everywhere but not finding the woman. As the snow quickly entered the hut, Minokichi moved back to close the door, resisting the snow attack with some wood to block the door. In the dark of the night, she wondered if it was this wind that opened it - she believed that she had just been dreaming, and had probably mistaken the light from the snow on the door as the woman in white, but he's not sure either. He answered Mosaku, and became worried because the parents did not answer him. He let out a fumbling back in the dark, and released the face of Mosaku. That face is cold!

When dawn came, the storm subsided and when the shipowner returned from his post - shortly after sunrise, he found Minokichi lying and unconscious beside Mosaku's body. Minokichi was then taken to be translated, and soon regained consciousness. But he was still sick for a long time because of the cold that night. He was devastated by the death of his parents, but did not say about the white woman he saw. Shortly after he was healthy again, he was approved the following days - going to the forest every morning, and returning at night with a pile of wood, anywhere later would help sell it.

In the afternoon, in the winter of the following year, when he was on his way home, he saw a girl walking on the same road traveling. The girl was tall, slender, attractive, and she pulled a greeting with a soft voice in the ear like a bird chirp for Minokichi. Minokichi then walks beside him, and they begin to share stories with each other. The girl said it O-Yuki. She has lost both her parents, and she is about to leave Yedo (Tokyo). There he would agree to a hard life, perhaps given as a servant. Minokichi manages to be amazed by the nature of this foreign girl, and makes it even more attractive, the more attractive this girl starts. Minokichi asks if this girl is engaged, and he answers her with a laugh, she is still alone. Then How is it? Whether Minokichi is married, or engaged, and this young man tells him that even though he only has a widowed mother, the question of who “options son-in-law” has not yet been approved, because it is still very young. After conversing, the two of them walked a long distance without speaking anymore. However, as the saying goes, "When there is a desire, the eyes can say as much as the mouth can."

When they finally arrived at the village, they liked each other lying down. Minokichi then asks O-Yuki to rest at the guesthouse. Embarrassed, the girl is finally willing to go with the young man, and Minokichi's mother welcomes them, preparing a body-warming meal for him. O-Yuki behaves so well that Minokichi's mother is immediately delighted, and wishes him to agree to his adventure to Yedo. And like the other end, Yuki never went to Yedo. She lives in that house, and becomes the "choice-in-law".

O-Yuki is indeed a very good daughter-in-law. Five years later, Minokichi's compilation mother is dying almost dead, the last words that come out of her mouth are praise and affection for her son's wife. O-Yuki gives Minokichi ten children, boys and girls - all of their children are handsome and beautiful, with soft skin.

One night, after their children are sound asleep, O-Yuki is accompanied by a light from a lantern, and Minokichi notices it.

“Looking at you, with the glow on your face, reminds me of a strange incident I had compiled as a boy. I've seen someone as beautiful and white as you are now - Yes, she does look a lot like you. ”

Without lifting her gaze from work, O-Yuki replies.

"Tell me about him ... Where do you want to be?"

Then Minokichi told him about the rowdy night in the ship's owner's shack at the time - and about the White Woman who bowed to him, smiling and whispering - and about the unexpected death of the old Mosaku. He said - 

“Entah sleep or conscious, only when I realize I see a figure of yourself. Of course, he's not human, and I'm afraid of being rejected - very, very scared - but he's really white! … Yeah, I'm never sure if it was I saw a dream, or the Snow Woman. ”

O-Yuki throws her stitches, stands up, and ducks down to Minokichi where she sits, and a screeching laugh in front is opened. 

“That's me - me - me! It's Yuki! And I told you that I would kill you if you ever told anyone about it! ... But for the sake of the children who are still asleep there, I will not kill you right now! And start watching you, pay close attention to them. Since they have reason to agree with you, I will treat you as I should! ”

While compiling her screams, her voice is very soft, like the cry of the wind - before long she evaporates into a pure white mist that soars across the ceiling, and slips out of the hole as soon as possible. Never to be seen again
