Backdoors: The Survival Guide

Backdoors: The Survival Guide
Chapter 22: The Night

After several question and answer sessions back with Olivia's target now, I got new information. To Olivia's own ability I call her "The Guider" who has the ability to show the best way to the next floor.

The Guider itself seems to only be able to activate when the user encounters several roads and also the instructions given only show one correct path, not directly leading to the next door.

This means that if the indicated path has another branching in front, then the user is required to use the return ability to get the next clue.

However, this is still a blessing for us, although maybe the trip will be delayed for some time but at least we can continue to be on the right path. And also the reason the trip took a little time of course to let Olivia rest, this ability also takes mental strength and is not easy to fill the mental ocean again.

I can't just keep forcing Olivia to use her ability to over right?

Well back to this moment, two people from our team finally managed to reveal their awakening abilities. Only me and Robert-Joshua's two fathers are still figuring out what we're capable of.

There is no need to rush after all there is still a lot of time and so far we have not found any monsters that are in the way.

Continuing the journey I looked around where many skyscrapers were abandoned and overgrown with vines.

Some dark places like the passageways of the bridge are so dark that not even light can illuminate the place.

Lan continued to feel that something was lurking from those empty places, but it seemed that someone was holding the creatures from the darkness to come out attacking them. Lan did not know the reason, and this was also based solely on her personal intuition.

Just to be sure, Lan walked slowly towards the dark alleys. Others who saw Lan walking towards the hallways immediately chased after Lan.

" Lan don't go there, I don't think the place should be entered " Olivia said with a worried tone.

" Right Mr. Lan, we better stay in place with the light. It is more dangerous to go into the unknown and dark as in front of the "

I just smiled at the advice of my colleague, "Look down, we're not going to go inside. I just want to make sure of something, Hyunsuk come here "

Hyunsuk timidly walked towards me, "Hyung you didn't tell me to go inside, did you? " hyunsuk joked.

I shook my head, "Try to check what is hiding behind this shadow with your ability "

Hearing what I said, everyone looked surprised. Whether there was really anyone hiding within the dark shadow, Hyunsuk who understood the situation started crouching and touching the ground only suddenly he fell backward with a face full of fear.

" What's up Hyunsuk "asked Olivia worried.

Lan who heard that also became serious, her premonition was right. " How much and how the monster forms "Said Lan seriously.

" A-there were about 30 of them d-and the monster had a human-like shape but their bodies looked like they had a mutation. "

Lan was quite surprised to hear the figure, it was quite a lot of monsters inside here. And this is just one hallway, what about the others.

Thinking of that Lan's face became serious. With their current abilities, it was certain that it would be very difficult to survive if they fought against the horde of monsters.

But there was one strange thing, why didn't the monster attack them? At that time Lan remembered Robert's words that said we should stay in a place illuminated by light.

Lan widened her eyes as she raised her hand and looked at the watch that showed at 5 p.m.

Seeing that, Lan immediately spoke "Everything quickly find a place to hide. I'm afraid the monsters inside don't attack because there's still sunlight illuminating the city, when the darkness arrives in the city I fear that even for us it will be very difficult to face the hordes of monsters that dwell in this darkness. "

After I said that everything was also aware of the urgency of the matter, our team ran quickly down the highway combing back and forth looking for a place that can be used as a hiding place for the night that will soon arrive.

After searching for some time I found a luxurious house facing directly towards the sunlight. I tried to get in and found the whole house completely empty. Some of the furniture looks still worth using but that's not the interest we have today.

Considering a large metropolitan area like this city I suspect the background of this floor takes the theme of an abandoned city after a war or maybe a pandemic. Usually for high-end houses like villas that I found kept at least a basement in anticipation of protection during a nuclear war.

This is no secret, even for medium-sized houses built in large metropolitan cities will at least prepare a basement in anticipation of nuclear war.

So I tried my luck to find out where the hidden room was. Robert and Olivia, who knew my purpose, also went to look around hoping to find a hidden room.

Unfortunately, Hyunsuk's ability could not be used to break through the barrier, if we could find the hidden room more easily.

As time passed and the day darkened, I could hear howls and shouts from the buildings in the distance. At first it was just one scream but as many other voices followed, all of us turned pale. Even for myself, I can definitely say that I will not survive if attacked by these monsters.

Perhaps luck was on our side, when Robert shifted the fridge cabinet and found a small path leading to the underground tunnel.

Quickly, everything immediately went inside while me and Robert immediately shifted the refrigerator back and tightened it. The fridge is quite big and also quite heavy, well I hope this can keep us safe all night.

Time passed, and a gripping night soon arrived.
