Backdoors: The Survival Guide
Chapter 17: Adapting

After the arrival of Robert and Joshua, our team now numbers 5 people. Well I don't know if this number will increase in the future, but I hope we'll all be fine until the end.

Our team again explored the 4th floor while familiarizing themselves with each other. Especially Olivia, maybe because they are from the same country, she was the fastest to familiarize herself with Robert and Joshua. Meanwhile Hyunsuk exchanged stories with Joshua because their age was not much different, so most topics must be about school, hobbies, and also girls.

I walk in the back, to prevent the unexpected. I don't communicate much, but that doesn't mean I'm a cold person. This is my innate nature, I would rather hear than speak directly. But if anyone asks me of course I will answer.

Katika is talking about our team, I was thinking is there another team out there? Maybe there are, but where have they come? Or are we the first team that can venture this far?

Well not possible, right? our team consists only of ordinary groups who can get to this floor with great difficulty. Maybe there is a team that has reached the top level, after all I don't know if we are the first wave to enter this place, who knows if someone has entered this place long before we arrived, we can not be sure of that.

But if there is, maybe we will meet in the future.

After exploring for some time, we found some supplies. The contents are P3K and some clothes like plain t-shirts and military jackets. Very lucky, especially P3K, in a world where danger lurks everywhere this thing is like a sacred artifact for us. Well although it is not possible to heal fatal wounds with this, but at least there are many functions other than that of P3K.

Because of the condition of Robert and Joshua who had torn clothes and full of blood, we gave shirts and jackets to them. It also provides some treatment to the wounds on their bodies.

By the way, regarding the supplies that Robert and Joshua brought was quite pitiful. In addition to some emergency-like snacks, they have almost no rations. Even the two of them did not have any protective armor and the weapon they had was just a machete and a few knives.

But since we are currently one team, it is fine to share some supplies.

Not far away as we walked from the stockpile, there was the sound of someone asking for help, wherever we searched we could not find the owner of the voice. We concluded that the owner of this sound has a considerable distance from us, it may be due to the closed nature of this floor, the echoes of the sound we can hear even from a long distance away.

I tried to trace the origin of the sound, but it was very difficult because the echoes of such sound came from all directions. Also I did not have the knowledge and experience to look for the origin of the voice earlier, seeing the others all shaking their heads.

I sighed, in a situation of not knowing what to do like this it was better for us to worry more about each other than the others. I also don't want to take too many risks for the team if it's not a decisive situation. With a floor level like this, it would not be surprising if one or two people died. Not everyone had equipment like ours, and even if they had weapons, their chances of winning against entities in this world were slim.

This is not a video game or a fantasy novel. Entities in this world are not mobs that can be killed easily, even in the real world to deal with ferocious beasts alone require extraordinary skills, let alone monsters-like entities in this world. You can't be great just because you have a gun, you're the real you in the real world. If you die then you die, there's no respawn back here.

I'm not the hero who's gonna save everyone. No, I wouldn't be such a thing. As long as I and my people are safe, that's enough for me.

Ignoring the origin of the sound, I took the first step of walking leading this team to adapt further in this terrifying world.
