The screams of Midnight

The screams of Midnight
Mbok Ratem

Mr. Kades ran off the ridge leaving the others. Just this time he actually saw a creepy ghost figure. Not just one but two at a time. His body instantly felt itchy, the effect of the fear was overwhelming.

"Astaghfiullah! Horrified, what dream did I meet demit soan! Oh Allah ..," he said in a gasping breath while scratching his scratch.

He paused for a moment to take a breath, lowered his head and returned to grumbling. Accidentally, the kades were too deep and looked back through his legs.

A pair of pale bluish legs with flaking skin hang right behind a pack of kades. A shabby white cloth covers the eyes of the feet.

"Luput .. spared, lha kok apes men me! Demite kok Yo ngetutke you know!" his murmur held back the cry from being so afraid.

(Sial ... shit, I'm really sorry! The demon is following you!)

With a trembling body pack of kades slowly stood up, and turned around. Although afraid, curiosity made him want to see directly the floating figure.

"Help me ..," the figure let out a slow, constant voice while simultaneously crushing the fur of Rome.

Mr. Kades was increasingly made to tremble, with a stammering voice and trembling hands pointing towards the creepy female figure. His feet wanted to run but they couldn't move,

 "Haa-han-ghost …,"

Mr. Kades limp helplessly and eventually fell unconscious. The creepy figure laughed long as his head moved stiff and strange, from his mouth came out some maggots and foul-smelling blood.

The figure flew again towards the shady trees around the village. His laughing voice was still heard even though his figure had disappeared.

The frightened voices of Bagyo and Rohman split the silence of the night.

"Please .. please, demit .. Ono demit investur!" (There's a flying demon)

They screamed out.

Running without direction while occasionally looking back. Three other residents followed behind, while Mr. Hansip was nowhere to be seen.

"Please .. please, sir'e, Bu'e, please ...," the sound of those shouting out loud made some citizens peek out from behind the window.

Some curious residents finally decided to leave the house, approaching Bagyo and Rohman who now fell and overlapped with three other residents.

"Eeh what is this about midnight fuss! Pake an overlapping event kayak want to make tumpeng only!" The bewildered citizens asked while helping stood Bagyo and the four others.

"What's up?! How are you all scared like this!" Tanya mbok Ratem who also came out from his simple hut.

"Nganu mbok, that's .. that's you!" Bagyo replied trembling and pale.

"That? That's what? Answer sing is clear to?!" Mbok Ratem was still confused and asked again.

"That's mbok, demit, demon, ghost!" Bagyo pointed in the direction where they met the figure of a woman and a creepy baby.

"Damn it?" Curious citizens asked.

"Dream kowe, I haven't seen a demon in our village in a lifetime!" One of the villagers broke Bagyo's speech.

"Well be kang, I swear I'm doing it! Tenan Iki you know, saksine akeh including mr kades!" Rohman answered.

"Sir kades? Where, how come there's nothing?" ask the others.

"Pak kades edyaaan, wis mlayu sek! Wargane was left behind!" grumbled Bagyo who was upset.

(Sir kades is crazy, run first! Even the citizens!)

"Lha keep kades sir, sekdes sir, same Hansip where?" Mbok Ratem asked, he dizzy looking for the figure sought.

"Well, we don't know where they are! People all ran away scared when the demit giggled!" Rohman answered.

"Pity if they are captured by the devil, let's find them together! Bring torches! Demit time is not afraid of us like this!" One of the citizens who dared to act in command of the citizens.

Residents also agreed to search including Mbok Ratem the only female elder who came looking. Mbok Ratem is not an ordinary old woman, he is also a baby massage shaman who understands little about the world of magic.

Crowded, villagers go around while ringing a kentongan looking for Mr. Kades, sekdes sir and also Hansip sir.

"Pak kades .. pak sekdes .. mas Hansip!"

A simple voice called out to the three. Bagyo took the group of citizens towards the place where they left Hansip's pack.

"Eh, that's like Hansip!" said one of the residents who saw a figure in green clothes in front there.

The compact citizens pointed the flashlight in the direction in question, "Eh, yes really! It's Hansip's mas! Let's hunt down there!"

Soon the group of residents approached Mr. Hansip who was lying on the village road. "Mas, Mrs Hansip!"

Rohman shook Hansip's body to wake him up. His efforts succeeded, Hansip, who was only in his thirties, slowly opened his eyes.

"Alhamdulillah," a crowd of compact citizens sounded.

"S-my why?" mr. Hansip is in a daze.

"Lha, how are we? Hansip, who's why are you sleeping here?" ask people who wear black boxes.

Mr. Hansip tried to remember what happened to him, then suddenly jumped into his arms around Bagyo.

"Ha-ha-ghost! Th-that was there!" point it upwards with a tremble.

"Eh mas Hansip that's already mup on, no more!" chirp one of the residents who quietly goosebumps and look around.

"A-safe huh?" Mr. Hansip was still stuttering in fear.

"Safe!" answer the people back together.

"One time I met, I'd like to find a pack of sekdes to be carried away with the devil!" Mbok Ratem again invites residents to tour.

"I saw the secretary running in that direction!" Mr. Hansip gave us a hint.

The village road was dark and quiet. Right left of the road there is only a vegetable garden owned by residents. Cold and foggy. There are no lights on the street.

Residents huddle together, close each other's bodies with torches in hand. Some use flashlights to illuminate far ahead. The fist that the citizens brought was not sounded.

The sound of crickets and night animals sounds earthy, the atmosphere of horror is created instantly makes the courage of the residents.

"Mbok .. mbok, let's just go home yuk! This is madness mbok!" Rohman who had always held the hand of Bagyo whispered softly to the mbok Ratem who walked the front.

Rohman's whimper was not heeded mbok Ratem, he just glanced and clucked in annoyance. "You have the same sekdes sir? If he dies and continues to flingyankan you how?" Mbok Ratem scares Rohman.

"Well, yeah don't dong mbok! Iish, this symbol even makes me more afraid!" Finally Rohman can only resign and grumble without a sound.

The sound of an owl is heard at night. The indistinct muttering of the woman sounded so unsettling in the ears mbok Ratem. A cynical grin appeared on her orange lips, the result of her habit of betel pruning.

"Kowe wani ?!" Mbok Ratem asked who.

(You dare to come?)

Villagers who follow behind Mbok Ratem are confused and frightened. The old woman in front of them was interacting with an invisible figure. Once again mbok Ratem asked himself,

"Kowe Lungo! Your ass is ora ana ing kene! Muliha lan balia marang your thing!"

(Go you! Your place is not here! go and return to your master!)

People looked at each other, they were confused. I don't know who Ratem mbok meant. What was heard next was only the long sound of howling coyotes accompanied by the giggling sound of women who bristled the fur of Rome.
