My name is Dani, after a year of struggle finally Allah SWT gave me the opportunity to continue my study at Master of Nursing in Faculty of Nursing (FON) Prince Of Songkla University (PSU) Thailand, Thailand, I have to fight to achieve my dream. The principle I had in mind was just to dare to try big things and never be afraid to get it even though I was just a child of a simple family, I must have a strategy to achieve my goals and must be willing to take risks, it is not easy to make a decision, he said, I had to leave my family in Cilegon and my profession at that time as a lecturer at one of the private campuses in Jakarta and for further study I left a structural position with a high income on the campus, weight? Yeah, but that's life, this is my choice it's a choice for my future.
I traveled to Thailand with a few friends whom I called on social media after I saw the announcement as a Thai scholarship winner’s Educations Hub for the Souther Region of ASEAN Countries (TEH-AC) and got amanah from Nong Ju an International Staff FON PSU to invite students from Indonesia because there are some who still have not confirmed arrival according to him, he said, Nong is a sister call in Thai he does not want to be called Phi or brother because we are young finally panggi him Nong Ju because Ju is his nick name.
The list of scholarship winners is approximately eight Indonesian students, one of which is plastered my name there, two are students from Nepal and one from the host of Thailand, but after I contacted nine new Indonesian students six who are ready to go to Thailand, the majority of TEH AC scholarship winners like me they are students from Bandung there are three students, namely Putri, Pras and Rifa they graduated from one of the State Universities in Bandung, Michael also from Bandung but not one campus with the three people, just now, I am an alumnus of S1 nursing from one of the State Universities in Purwokerto Central Java, two people from Bali namely Kadek and Koming, another one from Padang namely Cinta, others from Jakarta named Kak Sari and Murni from Semarang, the last Saiful from East Java from a place that I do not know that Bondowoso.
Of the eight children were just friends from Bandung, Bali, Bali, Padang and Semarang who answered my short message we began to organize and discuss for departure to Thailand finally we agreed to take a flight to Medan because friends from the field waiting in Medan, Medan, another reason because the trip to Hatyai Thailand there is no direct flight or direct flight from Jakarta and some other major cities so we have to transit with transit options at Kuala Namu Airport Medan, Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Malaysia or Changi Singapore.
If I'm honest this is my first time getting on a plane and I'm pretty relieved that there are so many friends that I'm not so scared, in Jakarta I met three people from Bandung with a backpack and a small suitcase, unlike me who carried a large suitcase with a large bag plus a backpack, we also introduced each other starting from the woman in hijab and petite stature he introduced his name Rifa, Rifa, then men with glasses with long sleeves named Pras and fat men with hunting sweat appear that he is tired on the road or indeed because his body is fat so he is easy sweating, the man was named Michael or commonly called Mike, another friend from Bandung named Putri even though he graduated from the University in Bandung but he was originally a Padang person, Padang, so he also waited in Medan with Cinta, then we met two friends from Bali, namely Kadek and Koming, the appearance of a kadek is quite simple by only carrying a backpack and small suitcase while the koming carrying a backpack and one suitcase that is large enough plus his fat body makes himself more and more claustrophobic.
Unlike the quiet Kadek, Koming started from the beginning to meet me and then continued on the journey he was always close and asked anything until I was confused to answer him, he said, he also told me he didn't get a scholarship like ours.
“Help me yes later there.”
The sentence that was often thrown from him after I counted during the trip to the plane he had said it five times, this person was also chatty.
We all gathered at the Airport at 8.00 wib because the flight to Medan at 09.30 after checking in while waiting for our boarding plane to sit down and get to know each other, it turns out that Pras and I have met before we are members of the Association of Indonesian Nursing Sciences Student Association (ILMIKI) who often hold national level nursing events with all BEM nursing se Indonesia I happened to have served vice president of BEM on campus first, from there we start to remember the events that we have done together, for Michael and Rifa I just got to know them for the first time because the traces of the organization I didn't find out that I looked at them both like nerds, but Michael is still a fresh graduate unlike me who already has work experience before.
Finally boarding time arrived and after traveling approximately two hours from Jakarta we finally arrived at Kuala Namu International Airport Medan, This beautiful airport was inaugurated by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in March 2014 and is the second largest airport in Indonesia after Soeta, kuala Namu Airport is a glass-walled airport so the atmosphere around it looks bright, after arriving the four of us walked to the baggage claim along the way we could see facilities from the airport ranging from clean toilets, many retail stores, cafes and restaurants.
Arriving at the place of baggage collection we immediately rushed to check in again to continue the flight to Hat Yai, Hat Yai is a city located in Songkla Province where we destination, which is located, we hurry because indeed check this plane requires that we have arrived 1 hour before departure to avoid the delay in the actual departure time to Hat Yai is still two hours but there is no harm in us checking in first and can rest when waiting for the plane boarding.
Arriving at the plane counter it turned out that check in had not been opened so we had to wait almost an hour and this is where we met Love and Daughter, after we got acquainted it turned out that the princess was a classmate of Pras in college and love was a daughter's friend when high school so they were still easily separated two years below me, there is something strange about this trip even though the departure time is two hours left why it has not been opened, we tried to wait in front of the counter and it turned out that it was still at 12:00 the counter began to open and I saw the queue was not too crowded the four of us queued, I happened to be the first queue.
I showed my passport and e-ticket on my flight the officer nodded then ordered me to weigh the luggage in the form of my bag and suitcase, after weighing it turned out to be 55 kilograms or more 35 kilograms because the airline we boarded gave free baggage only 20 kg, counter officers said if the excess perkilogramnya Rp 150,000
“So you have to pay Rp 5.250.000”
Hearing that all at once my face turned deathly pale
“How do I only bring two million money, please help me yes, Bang.”
“Gini .. Bang, brother move aside first so later I try to find the solution”
“Why Mas Dani?” Ask Pras
I began to ponder because I didn't want to trouble my friends because of my own actions
“Nothing, Pras. You go first aja.”
I pray to Allah that there is a solution to my problem, my suitcase bag is filled very heavy because my mother brought me a lot of food for supplies while in Thailand I had time to think about throwing non-essential items from the bag and my suitcase but my brother's counter won't let me finally follow his advice.
“Subhanallah .. subhanallah ...”
In my heart I could not say the sentence and after some passengers finished checking in the brother called me.
“This, Bang ... already,” while giving me the boarding pass, it turns out that my brother helped me by using unused passenger baggage.
Thank God after that I felt relieved because the problem was over and as a thank you I gave a little pocket money to the brother, even though he refused it but I forced it because I sincerely gave as a form of gratitude.
If the first plane was just a noise that interfered then this time not only the noise but also the turbulence of the plane when it wanted to take off or landing the stomach felt swirling, swirling, although the journey of Medan Hat Yai is only 45 minutes but the stomach feels like vomiting.
Arriving in Thailand we pick up a van with the words Faculty of Nursing Prince of Songkla University to go to the International Dormitory PSU where we live, we were all ushered in by a bushy mustachioed senior brother with a slightly curly mistress we called him Bang Ian, the man from Polewali Mandar West Sulawesi is the senior brother of the 2013 generation, he said, when in the van he had many stories about the program that we will live, namely the master in nursing science.
“Later for your research taught by Ajarn Wongchan am Ajarn Narissara the person is smart and decisive but if not wrong Ajarn Wongchan already wants to retire this year,” said Bang Ian
This senior just arrived in Thailand already talking about college, in my heart said
“How are you going, Bang? College is difficult or not,” asked Mbak Koming
Only this Balinese girl responded to all Bang Ian's rants about our campus, then Bang Ian advised.
“You must be compact yes let pass all.”
“Iya right, Bang ... The important thing we pass together,” Mbak Koming strengthen.
After that I heard Mbak Koming back to tell about his trip to Hatyai, the same story when traveling Jakarta and Medan is the story of him leaving not to use a scholarship to study at PSU.
“Kok can?” Bang Ian was shocked.
“Iya Bang I don't know the announcement of the scholarship when,” with a sad expression Mbak Koming replied.
Indeed scholarships are the main obstacle in studying abroad, especially in my place just imagine our semester money 80,000 baht or about 32 million rupiah because the baht rate against rupiah is approximately 400 rupiah, not to mention where to live and the cost of living in Thailand maybe only rich people can finance such expensive college.
If you want to study abroad for free, alias without cost, it actually only takes two things, namely LOA and Scholarships, LOA is a letter of acceptance or letter stating that we are accepted at the campus we are heading to new with the letter we apply for scholarships to various scholarship institutions.
Incidentally on our campus there is a TEH-AC scholarship that accommodates all the needs of students while studying in Thailand we all get the scholarship except Mbak Koming.
“ So you charge yourself?”
“Iya, Bang .. This is just me selling the car,” Mbak Koming said with his sad face.
Our initial week activity at the Faculty of Nursing Prince of Songkla University or commonly abbreviated as FON PSU is a preparation course of a kind of ospek or introduction to the study program, but OSPEKnya is different, here we are only taught at a glance about how to make a good and true article, whose purpose is to simplify our thesis in the future, there are some lecturers or what we usually call ‘Ajarn’, which is, Ajarn is a lecturer call in Thailand just like ‘Sensei’ in Japan.
Some of the Ajarn people have already entered our classes but what is interesting to friends is one of the teaching is quite graceful, the English is fluent and clear, and the language is very clear, the clothes are always charming with blouse clothes patterned flowers and traditional Thai patterned sponge skirts, beauty without gaps with hair bangs in the blow, and, oriental white face looks like hollywood artist Michelle Yeoh in the movie crazy rich asians, her name is Ajarn Asst, Prof Narissara, PhD or commonly called Ajarn Nai, just as her name means intelligent woman friends are made to be amazed by her.
“ People are smart Mas, graceful, Amrik graduates too, publication is very perfect anyway.”
Michael said bag told me a big secret, brown-skinned fat man from Bandung, Bandung, he called me mas or brother because he was younger than me he knew the information after a Google searching fad when chatting with Bang Ian in the van at that time, but I'm not interested in what he's saying today.
The next day exactly Monday the first day we get the material about research and material giver is Ajarn Narissara, 15 minutes before college we have stood by in class. 5 minutes before his lecture came, he said, opening the door while saying hello and they simultaneously stood up except for saiful who was a little late, he just followed, then they said ‘Sawasdee ka ajarn’. Then ajarn opened the laptop and opened the first slide with only one word with a large enough font size that says ‘Research’, then Ajarn Narissara asked “ What do you think about this?” while pointing towards the slide, “ Please, raise your hand” with a smile and look us in the eye one by one, he wanted to know how critical our reasoning and thinking is about the meaning of the word research.
I'm quick to raise my hand, “Yes, Dani” we all use a nameplate or card on the chest exactly like the SD students who are undergoing a test study results (THB) but unfortunately the card inside is only paper can and written names using a large marker so less so beautiful to look at because it is not precision form, understand the handwriting, but the benefits of Ajarn can clearly see the writing and more easily memorize our names.
One by one we gave an opinion about the research approximately 15 minutes later Ajarn Narissara continued the lecture on the next slide, he explained in a demanding manner and if there was one of them who showed a frowning face, ajarn did not hesitate to ask, are you understanding?, lectures go well and are easy to understand because Ajarn Narissara provides a solid understanding that does not jump around if someone asks but has not reached the material described, he smiled and said letter you will be understanding
