Chapter 11 – Zhang Hu

"Easels?" Wang Lin was stunned. The first person he thought might fit that description was the yellow cloth disciple who laughed at him, however, he was not sure.

"Ah? Didn't you see it? He was the one responsible for organizing the work of the students. He was also an honor student but had been given the right to begin his cultivation. Dressed in yellow clothes, he did not look good at all. We all call him a ferret. '' Zhang Hu explained while drinking water.

Wang Lin bit the sweet potato, then said, “I know who it is, I saw it today. He told me to bring 10 barrels of water a day from tomorrow or else I wouldn't get food. ”

Zhang Hu was stunned. After staring at Wang Lin for a while, he asked, "Brother, did you offend him earlier?"

Wang Lin shook his head and asked, "Why?"

Zhang Hu showed a pitiful expression to Wang Lin. "Wang Lin, do you think that those barrels are like the ones you use at home? Like this big? ”He gestured with his hand

Wang Lin had a bad feeling and nodded.

Zhang Hu smiled bitterly. He said, “You must have offended the yellow weasel. The barrel he was talking about was the size of this room, filling ten barrels. I'm not gonna eat this sweet potato, just keep it. You will be lucky to get food every 4 to 5 days. You are new here, and all the foraging spots on the mountain are taken. Only the older disciples could choose them. Tomorrow, I'll just eat my wild fruits. He put the rest of the sweet potato on the table, sighed, lay down on the bed, and fell asleep.

Wang Lin felt anger expanding through him, but then he thought of his parents eyes that were filled with hope and forced his anger. He lay in bed asleep full of anger.

It was still dark on the second day when Wang Lin got off the bed. Zhang Hu was still snoring. Wang Lin was dressed in grey clothes and quickly headed to where he met the ferret. As soon as he arrived, the sun appeared from the east. The yellow-clothed youth opened the door and gave Wang Lin a strange look. “At least you are on time. Get the bucket and go east. There's a spring on the mountain, bring water from there. ”

He did not pay attention to Wang Lin anymore. He sat cross-legged on the ground and breathed slowly while facing the rising sun. A barely visible white mist came out from his nose, rolling around like two dragons.

Wang Lin looked at him enviously. He then walked into the room and looked around. Finally, behind the door he saw 10 barrels and smiled bitterly as he walked towards the east gate.

Wang Lin arrived at the location after a walk. The scenery is quite beautiful and the sound of flowing water is soothing. It is a place that can calm the heart.

He had no time to appreciate beauty. When the bucket was full, he picked it up and quickly returned to the top of the mountain.

Wang Lin continued to do this until dusk. He hasn't even filled a barrel. If not for the sweet potato filling his stomach, he would not have the strength to continue. His arms and legs hurt and numb. They get hurt every time he moves.

Although the effect was lower than dew, Wang Lin was still excited. He touched his chest and adjusted the bead position. He decided not to tell anyone about this treasure.

After he finished drinking half a bucket of water, his muscles no longer hurt and he felt full of energy. He quickly continued his work of fetching water.

That night, he dipped stone beads into half a bucket of water and drank them. To avoid suspicion, he returned with a tired expression on his face.

A short while later, Zhang Hu returned. He still wore an overly harsh expression on his face. The two spoke for a while and Zhang Hu hesitantly asked for two pieces of sweet potatoes. He ate it and fell asleep in his bed.

Time passed quickly, and in the blink of an eye, a month had passed since Wang Lin became a disciple of the Heng Yue Sect.

Wang Lin learned that Zhang Hu's job was to collect firewood. He had to gather enough firewood before he could eat. He had been collecting firewood for three years since he became an honorary disciple of the Heng Yue Sect. Three years ago, he would only eat once every three or four days, but now he had shortened it to where he could eat once every two days.

According to him, honorary disciples had to perform tasks for ten years and could eat three times a day before they could learn even the most basic cultivation.

Inner disciples are not like them. They had their own masters, did not perform any tasks, and had their own rooms. Their only job is to cultivate.

Moreover, there was someone among the inner disciples and honor disciples, like Wang Hao who became a favor, but he was basically a servant.

These people do not need to do homework, and also practice some low-level techniques. They only needed to complete the work assigned by their master. However, these people had very little talent and they would only spend their entire lives to become a helper.

As for the so-called talent, Wang Lin learned from Zhang Hu that it was only spiritual energy. Everyone has it, but in varying amounts. If one had sufficient spiritual energy, they could learn an immortal technique in a year, but if it was lacking, it would take tens or even hundreds of years.

A man's life is limited. A person with mediocre talent would never get anything in his life. That was why this sect placed such great energy on the spiritual.

This month, when Wang Lin took the water, he drank a lot of water that had been soaked by stone beads, causing his body to become stronger. Previously, it took him six days to fill 10 barrels, now it only took three.

However, in order to prevent others from being suspicious, Wang Lin always woke up before sunrise and walked casually towards the mountain with a bucket. While the others were surprised he could finish in three days, they thought it was because he woke up early and went to bed late at night.
