The Legend of Bali Strait



Once upon a time, there lived a brahmin in the Kingdom of Daha, Kediri. The Brahmin or religious leader is called Empu Sidi Mantra. He is highly respected by the community because of the sakti mandraguna. His life was calm, peaceful, and wealthy. He had a handsome and handsome son named Manik Angkeran.


Unfortunately, Manik is a gambler. He likes to gamble and unfortunately, often loses. Until one day, he was confused to pay his debt and was hunted to be killed. He also complained to his father, Empu Sidi Mantra. The kindness of the father made Manik immediately able to pay off his debt.


Empu Sidi Mantra then asked for guidance from God Almighty so that he could pay off his son's debt. At midnight, he heard a very clear voice. He was asked to go to the crater of Mount Agung and meet the Dragon Besukih, because there is a treasure there.


Arriving there, he met the Dragon Besukih. He also granted his property request on the condition that Manik must stop gambling. Because the money is too much left, Manik also crumpled. He gambled and lost again. This time, the Manik who met the Besukih Dragon, alone.


Instead of asking well, he cut off the tail of the Besukih Dragon. The dragon immediately killed Manik. The father was looking for his son who suddenly disappeared. Naga Besukih then confessed that he killed Manik. He can turn on Manik again, provided that Manik can not come with his father.


On the way, the father incised his scepter on the ground. However, the scratch of the stick actually increased in width to make the ground split and filled with sea water. Until finally became a strait called the Bali Strait.


The moral message is to stay away from loss-making habits. Do not lie to the parents.



The Legend of Timun Mas...!!!



Mbok Sirni is a widow who wants a child to help her work. One day, he was approached by a giant who wanted to give a child on the condition that the child was six years old should be handed over to the giant for eating.


Mbok Sirni agreed. The giant gave him cucumber seeds to plant and care for after two weeks among the cucumbers he planted there was one that was the largest and shiny like gold.


Then Mbok Sirni split the fruit carefully. It turned out to be a beautiful baby named Golden Cucumber. More and more the day the Golden Cucumber grows into a beautiful girl.


One day a giant came to collect a promise. Mbok Sirni is very afraid of losing the Golden Cucumber. He also promised that the giant came in 2 years again because the more mature, the more delicious to eat, the giant agreed.


At Mount Gundul he met an ascetic who gave him 4 small packages, namely cucumber seeds, needles, salt, and terasi as an antidote. Arriving at home he gave the 4 parcels to the Golden Cucumber, and told the Gold Cucumber to pray.


The morning came, the giant came again to collect the promise. The Golden Cucumber was told to come out through the back door for Mbok Sirni and the giants chased after him. Cucumber Gold remembered the package, then stocked cucumber seeds. What a miracle, the forest became a field of cucumber bushy fruit.


The giant ate it but the cucumber even added giant energy. Then, Timun Mas sprinkled needles until a moment grew very tall and sharp bamboo trees. With its giant bloody feet it continued to chase. The Golden Cucumber opened the parcel containing the salt and sprinkled it.


In a moment, the forest became a vast ocean. With his magic the giant can pass through. The Gold Cucumber then sprinkled the terasi, instantly formed a sea of boiling mud, the giant died. Finally, Timun Mas and Mbok Sirni lived happily in peace.


The moral of the legend is that every evil deed will be rewarded and rewarded in the future. So, do not let you regret it later in the day.



Origin of Bali Island...!!!



According to folklore legend, the islands of Bali and Java were originally incorporated. Starting from the story of Siddhi Mantra, a Brahmin who has a son named Manik Angkera who likes to squander his father's property by gambling.


Siddhi Mantra was a wealthy man, but because of the behavior of his son who risked his property in gambling until it was exhausted, then owed to others, seeing his son's difficulties supposedly on the instructions of Sanghyang Widhi, who was the only one who could do so, Sidhimantra meets the Dragon Sakti treasure guard in the crater of Mount Agung.


After the debt was paid for the help of the Dragon, unfortunately Manik Angkeran still likes to gamble, for the sake of treasure, the child met the Dragon Himself and managed to deceive him, because angry Dragon also burned Manik Angkeran to death.


Siddhi Spell feeling sorry for his son, begged with compassion for the Dragon to revive his son. The dragon who still had pity also granted his request.


After Manik Angkera came back to life, Siddhi Mantra let out a spring right between them, with the intention that his son could be separated from him and be independent.


Over time the land on which they stood was separated by water and formed a small island. The island that formed it is the island of Bali that we know until now.
