UNLUCKY

UNLUCKY
Ch.424 - Calvin, The Lonely Child.

Then everything was so dark and the story of Charleston the Zewhit Clown ended. Demelza shed tears at Charleston's memories, "I know very well what it's like to be home but there's no nuance of home said by others. He said the house is a comfortable and warm place, a place to return, a place with family. But none of that I've ever felt ...."

Demelza has never felt comfortable in a mansion that only she herself lives in while her parents are busy working. In fact, Demelza is more comfortable living in the school dormitory because if at her house she will only eat alone. There is no one to talk to. Therefore, Demelza likes to chat with others but sometimes to exaggerate the ugliness of others so that his chatting friends do not go or get tired of talking to him. So as much as possible Demelza looking for information material to start a chat.

I don't know when it became Demelza's custom. His friends would be very interested if Demelza said he had a new story but ignored if he did not have an interesting story anymore. Eventually Demelza became more enthusiastic about finding more material for other people's ugliness to gossip. Everything is done with the initial intention to find a chatting friend only. But over time, it becomes a bad habit that has been attached and become Demelza's personality.

From the memories of the Clown Zewhit, this time it was Calvin's turn or the Dwarf Zewhit to appear. A baby Calvin is seen abandoned at the entrance of the orphanage as snow falls. Calvin's face was almost filled with snow and someone came out and rushed him into the parlor to be recovered from hypothermia.

One-year-old Calvin finds the reality bitter and understands or does not understand his orphanage will be closed because there is no donation from anyone while the war is ongoing. Calvin, who still could not take care of himself at that age, had to be brought along with the parlour clerk to work.

Officers took turns carrying Calvin, sometimes he was with officers who worked in hospitals of war victims while being carried in the back. Sometimes Calvin is with the officers who are working on making food for the young soldiers who are forced to go to war.

"First snow of the year .. The sign is that you've been with us a year Calvin." the parlour worker who gave Calvin warm milk after work recalled how he found Calvin when the first snow also fell last year, "No need to grow up so fast, just slow down. Boys aged 10 and over at the Yardley were all required to fight. You have to grow up when the war is over!"

Calvin, who was just a year older, should not remember that but still exposed how the parlourman looked at him sincerely.

Until the age of 4 years, Calvin is not yet able to take care of himself but still follow the officers working parlors. New orphanages get groceries if they help something in the war by helping to care for war victims or making food.

Calvin's been good at helping out with medical supplies at the hospital, "How did you know I needed this?!" asked the astonished parlour attendant who had just wanted to stand looking but had been brought by Calvin, "Thank you, Calvin!"

"Grow big and become a doctor, don't be a soldier boy!" said wounded soldiers are being treated.

Calvin only replied with a smile, somehow but Calvin at the age of 4 years still can not speak fluently. Maybe because no one often invites him to talk because everything is busy. And there are no peers who can be invited to play because the children of the home age are all far above it and most have entered the army to fight for boys and girls must work with the caretaker. So no chatting friends to stimulate Calvin could talk. So at his age now still not fluent in speaking but very understand what other people say especially his high memory.

Calvin escapes from the hospital, passes the bodies of dead soldiers, and is covered in a white cloth in a bloodstained army uniform. No one was crying over the departure of the soldiers it had become a normal thing to happen in war. Everyone was just trying to get as far away from the residential area as possible or keep their boys away from being forced into becoming soldiers as well.

Those who refuse to serve as soldiers will be shot for betraying the country. The soldier who died without a weeping family, there could have been no family left to cry over his departure.

Tan, Teo and Tom shed tears imagining what if they were in the same position. It is the same because living in an orphanage but living in a time of war is the worst condition for orphans and non-orphans. All children of all kinds will suffer.

While the Three Twins weep for Calvin's story, suddenly there is a huge explosion in the hospital. Luckily Calvin came out of the building but Calvin remembered that the parlour attendant was inside the hospital. Calvin wanted to go back in but was held back by a hand covered in white cloth.

Calvin, who was in a panic with the bomb blast, could not be surprised by the soldier who rose from the dead. Calvin is pulled and protected by the soldier who turns out to be alive. The soldier protected until his last breath, Calvin crushed the soldier's body but thanks to that too he survived.

The government that came to see the scene had no intention of looking for survivors because it saw conditions that did not allow anyone to survive. Everyone just wanted to be buried in one big hole.

"This child is alive!" shouted the soldier who was so happy.

"He's a boy or a girl? if women kill them!" said the Soldier's Boss.

One of the female soldiers looked angry to hear that but remained hidden. However, it is not forbidden for women to become soldiers, but what managed to survive is not much. In that city alone she was the only one who was a female soldier. It is only natural that women are not considered strong or underestimated as they are unable to survive the war.

"Take him to the child shelter!" said The Boss.

Calvin only regained consciousness after being treated for a few days and upon waking up Calvin saw himself in a large room along with thousands of other children. The children were entrusted by the parents, because the shelter was far away and safe from air strikes.

Calvin cried for days remembering the parlour clerk who was with him in the hospital.

"What the fuck is this kid?! it stinks! you never take a shower?!" said one of the boys from the mob who was playing ball in the yard. The problem is that children who are in the shelter are mostly children of rich people or children of someone who is influential. Under the conditions of the war, it was natural that the children there felt sensitive and asked Calvin to keep clean because they would sleep together in one large room.

But it was Calvin who had never been treated that way and actually did not know what was going on because it was not well explained. Calvin, who is 4 years old, only complied if ordered to leave the shelter.

"You! go darisini! you don't deserve to be here with us!" said one of the other kids.

When Calvin left, the children realized they had done something wrong.

"So where did it go?!" ask the shelter officer.

"We don't know! we didn't know he was really going to leave!" said the child who told me to leave was asking for forgiveness for being beaten by a shelter officer.

"He's only 4, he still doesn't understand anything! you should know that!" the shelter officer said but realized that the one he scolded was also only 7 years old and stopped the blow, "What have I done ...." The shelter officer chose to start looking for Calvin's whereabouts but was not found.

Calvin, who kept walking non-stop, finally found a small village, "Oh, that village ...." teo said he realized that the village was a village that appeared to be a disturbance within the Dwarf Zewhit world.

There Calvin asked for food or a place to stay by knocking on all the doors. No one opened the door at all. Eventually Calvin entered the forest to take refuge in a large tree and slept there. The next day he was just looking for fruits to serve as a hunger medicine. It turns out that many were found by Calvin, thanks to which he was able to get the energy to build his overnight place in the forest by collecting twigs, wood, and wide leaves to be used as a makeshift house.

Calvin could have gone through that night without having to feel the cold like last night. The night was so warm with the bonfire that he also managed to make. Luckily Calvin had been with the parlour clerk to make cooking so he could learn how to light a fire.

Calvin, who was soundly asleep, awoke when a wooden branch fell on him. Calvin thought it was because the wind was not but someone was deliberately doing it.

"Will you steal the fruits in my garden?! you thief!" said one of the men who surrounded Calvin's place now.

Calvin wanted to apologize but didn't know how to say it and just kept stammering.

"What the fuck is this kid?! handicapped?! he can't talk?! basic is useless! even we can't use his power to replace the fruit that has been stolen, you fucking crap!" finally Calvin ended up beaten, he said as payment for the fruits Calvin had eaten.

Snow fell on Calvin that night, after being beaten by the villagers.

"Ak .. akku .. nam .. nammaku ... Cal .. vin .. ummulkku ...." Calvin Daritadi wanted to say that to the villagers but was not given a chance. Even Calvin did not finish mentioning his age who had stepped on 5 years when the first snow fell but his age ended on his birthday.
