The Price of Sainthood

The Price of Sainthood
Negotiate

"If I say I don't want to! Don't be forced!"

"But, Nona–"

Prangs!

The sound of broken glass then followed heard from a room room. Narendra who happened to hear that immediately ran to the source of the voice. The door that is perfectly open presents a chaotic view of the room. Food was strewn on the floor and the shard of broken plates scattered. With just a quick glance, he immediately understood what had just happened.

Seen a young maid crouching while picking up the shard. Realizing the arrival of Narendra he immediately lowered his head in fear.

"I'm sorry, sir. It's purely my fault for not serving Miss."

Narendra sighed. "Hurry and get everything done before anyone gets hurt" he said later. There was no anger at the tone of speech to make the maid breathe a sigh of relief. The woman nodded obediently, then continued the work.

Narendra was still unmoved in place, as if giving the maid time and space to clean up the mess. He turned his gaze to the skinny pajama-clad figure sitting on the bed, then sighed softly. The girl he looked at actually showed his displeasure by throwing his face away from the father. A soft snort even shot from her tiny lips.

"Go back with new food" Narendra said as the servant left the room. Make the woman stop her steps and turn around.

Narendra's gaze stared straight ahead, where Lara was widening her eyes as if in disbelief at his orders, then slowly she stepped closer to the princess. Seeing the maid was still unmoved, he then added. "I'll bribe him."

"I'm not hungry. Don't force me!" Instead of welcoming the enthusiastic intentions of the papa, Lara showed her displeasure. He spoke with great emphasis. A flash of hatred was even still emanating in his eyes.

"Hunger isn't hungry you still have to eat."

Lara snorted in annoyance. It's always been this way. This man always forced his will. He inched around as Narendra took a seat on the edge of the bed. For what else if not avoiding his own papa.

Narendra continued speaking in a soft tone after a moment of silence. "You can be angry at Papa. You can punish Papa too. But never abandon your own stomach by not touching food at all."

"Because I'm your papa." Narendra spoke calmly. However, unpleasant words were then thrown from his daughter's lips.

"Papa?" Lara repeated the title of papa in a dubious tone, then the pale-looking thin lips curled up a disdainful smile. "Father of how many children, huh! Two? A three? Or maybe the number reached dozens? Huh, stupidly I've been feeling like you're your only child all along. Whereas out there so many children your droplets from many women that you never take care of!"

Lara looked away for a moment in order to remove the drop of crystal that fell from the corner of the eye, then returned her sight and re-decomposed the sentence that made Narendra's heart feel pain.

"Do you want to hurt my heart? Previously I've felt tormented because as a child never got his rights in full, then, you still have the heart to demand I let you share the love of other children!"

***

Narendra rubbed his face rough. The man looked angry. He regretted the decision taken just now. It's not fair the name. Obviously he was only on the side of one of his daughters. What if the other one will demand his justice?

Relax Rendra. It's only temporary. Then everything will be fine. I'm sure it can still be fair even by stealth.

Like losers, Narendra had never been this confused in dealing with every problem. Especially the work business. He was very well trained for that. Even just by flicking a finger all the problems would be resolved with the intermediary of his subordinates. He does not need to bother making it difficult for himself to think hard.

But this time, the problem is clearly different. Children's affairs are indeed very sensitive because it concerns feelings. On the one hand Narendra wants to be fair. But on the other hand he also can't see Lara constantly hating him.

He can understand Lara's reaction after knowing the real facts. The girl felt hit. Narendra could see deep disappointment in Lara's eyes even though her daughter had never been sweet toward her.

It's not easy to persuade Lara. It was not just once that Narendra failed to do so. Therefore, nothing makes him happier than when suddenly Lara asks him to negotiate.

"good. I'll follow all Papa's wishes. I will be a filial son. Even accepting that match. Provided ...."
