The Fragrant Wood Swordsman

The Fragrant Wood Swordsman
pkh 10 part 3

In his excitement, Keng Hong had almost forgotten his promise, so laughing he stopped and faced the old man again. He furrowed his brows, thinking and remembering. Many philosophies of life that he knew, and in that occasion, he would ask questions that he himself could not answer and that grandfather's answers would be able to add to his understanding of life and death.

"First question, Locianpwe. For what does man live to do virtue?"

"Heh-heh-heh, your question is not right, young man. Your question is that it is as if virtue should be done for something. In fact, something done with selflessness, is no longer a virtue in its name. The question should read: Why should a living man do virtue? Well, for this question I answer this and listen carefully because every human being needs to know and be aware of this."

Keng Hong nodded and listened attentively.

"Virtue is a duty of human life because life must be in accordance with nature, so as to adapt to nature which benefits every thing, humans should use themselves as part of nature. There is also self-utilization that obliges humans to fill their lives with virtue. Virtue means any good deed directed at another person or a neighbor. Good works in the sense of doing for the benefit and pleasure of others. Therefore it must be selfless because then this virtue is natural, just as nature itself gives without asking, selflessly. Virtue done selflessly means false, only a disguise to cover up your own lust. For example, if you help someone with a secret self in your own heart that you may receive praise, so your act of helping is not actually a virtue because it is not basically to help but to make efforts to get praise! If there were no hope of praise, you would not like to do that. True selfless virtue is the virtue done by the realization that it is an absolute duty in life. When man has accustomed himself to lay virtue as a duty of life, then his self will disappear because the act is not considered good or bad anymore, but the implementation of the duty of life. And as always, every duty if done well, will bring relief in the heart and airy in the chest."

Keng Hong nodded. Many have he read the description of the virtues that must be carried out by humans living in this world, some are grandiose, some are convoluted. The description of this grandfather is very simple and clear, easy to understand and also easily accepted by reason.

What is useless or useful in this world? All are of benefit to other beings, giving, giving and giving selflessly. Fruits in trees, beautiful flowers, land and water, wind and rain, sun and moon, animals.

Man is resourceful, a time lost to others in seeking to benefit the world and its contents? Of course, the benefits caused by actions that are useful and beneficial to their fellow men. Not doing virtue means ignoring the obligations of life, what else if doing the thing that is the opposite, namely evil!

Grandpa chuckled. "Ha-ha-ha, do not put yourself in the group of those who are horrified to face death, young people. It is to be pitied of those who fear to face an experience they have never experienced, frightened by their own shadows. I lean more towards the lessons of the Prophet Khong-cu who reminded his students why they want to know about death while about his own life does not know the meaning and has not been able to fill it perfectly? As birth is not the will of man, death is not the will of man, therefore it is better to leave death to his caretaker because it is not the business or authority of the living man. The most important thing now is to fill life, learn about the fairy of life and its intricacies, intricacies because we are humans who must live in harmony and in accordance with the will of nature, we need to be able to adapt to what is around us. Adjusting to other people we face. Adapt to the environment in which we live. Adjusting to circumstances. By conforming means not opposing because only the opposition will be able to cause rift and also destruction. Self-adjustment will certainly lead to harmony, compatibility and under these circumstances, it will be easier to benefit oneself as I mentioned earlier about the obligation of man to fill life with virtue."

Keng Hong, whose heart is still filled with tension and excitement because he feels he can solve the secret of Day-bhok-kiam, considers it enough to talk about the very high and difficult thing, he said, so he quickly yelled with respect and said,

"Locianpwe, I give a lot of thanks for all the Locianpwe dishes that are very valuable to me. Please Locianpwe forgive that I cannot serve Locianpwe any longer."

"Eh-ehh-ehh, then, young man. You have asked all the questions I have answered. Now it's my turn to ask about…"

"I admit defeat, Locianpwe. Locianpwe is great in philosophy and I should be a student of Locianpwe, how dare I argue with Locianpwe? Never mind, I admit defeat and one day when we have a chance to meet again, of course I will provide more time to listen to Locianpwe's teachings are very valuable. Goodbye bye!"

Keng Hong did not give the grandfather another chance to refute as he had already swiftly flashed his escape while exerting his strength. He heard the old man calling, but he did not care and ran away quickly.

He was amazed at the grandfather's knowledge of the scriptures and verses, amazed at the grandfather's view of life. But he felt doubt whether the grandfather had been able to set all the theories in practice, whether the grandfather had been able to adjust the triad that should not be separated in kebatinan science, that is, according to the heart, words, actions. He had never seen the lunge of the grandfather, but the man who had dared to use the nickname Kuncu (Wise Believer) was very doubtful!
