The New Finance Director

David watched as James returned from the conference room looked like he was looking at another himself, James looking very excited. He saw James muttering something but it was too far away to listen, but it seemed like he was thinking about a lot of things. James was a good boy, but he never grew up. Maybe because his father spoiled him too much from childhood. But since her father died, she acted differently. He worked hard in the acquisition of club ownership and although he was not very good at the beginning, he continued to learn to improve. He acted as if he was a completely different person. He finally grew up.

"I think the results of the press conference were not satisfactory, even so I feel very excited even though a little annoyed it seems someone paid them to always fight me." David listened while James complained.

"Well, their boss did pay them James, hehe," David replies in his stilted attempt at humor.

"Oh, I didn't know you could make a joke either" James said exaggeratedly.

"There's a lot you don't know about me"

answer David.

After the past few months of trying to complete a mutual agreement, they have formed a bond. David could see that James respected him a lot. David started working for James because of his relationship with his father. David at first did not want James to invest his money in football because football was not a very profitable business. The price of a top team is very expensive, look at how much money James spends in one go, not to mention spending on player salaries, staff, infrastructure and more. But because Grace said that she would support James fully if he failed, she went ahead with her plan. Maybe he knows that James will succeed or he just wants James to do what he likes, David will never be able to know it or because they've had too much money, who knows.

They went outside the stadium and sat in Jimmy's taxi waiting for them.

After the car was turned on, James said, "Hi David, I want to make a change in the management of the club."

"What's on your mind?" David asked while looking at the scenery along the way.

"I want to remove the structure of directors and managers who make all the decisions and want to follow a more structured approach and all with my permission, but this is for next season with a new era"

"In England, a manager has too much power to make a decision. But for this season we leave everything to Mr Alex Ferguson, after that we will create a new era at Manchester United"

"That's right. But what do you propose?" David said, obviously interested.

"I suggest following the example of German football. I want to remove the director's position altogether. In that place there will be a finance director who will be in charge of the club's finances and make a negotiating deal and a sporting director who is in charge of decisions regarding the club's performance on the pitch" James said. It looks like James has been preparing and planning to make changes at the club.

"That's a good idea but you're a new person in that field. In English football, a manager has the power to make decisions about aspects of the sport, it's tradition. Are you sure you want to oppose it?" david said, trying to measure James.

"Well, if that's what you want, go ahead." David said with a satisfied smile on his face. Although tradition should be respected, sometimes you have to fight it to succeed.

"So, David, I'm thinking of giving you the position of Finance Director. I think we can accomplish great things together." James proposes.

Although it was rather sudden, David had already expected this and he had already made his decision.

"I accept." David said with a slight smile on his face to James. Maybe it will be tiring later, because David already has a steady job that is well paid and more relaxed. David has worked very hard to get to where he is. Maybe it'll all collapse.

'I think it's okay to be bolder every once in your life' David thought as the car drove.

"It's good to hear you take it. We'll talk about Mr. Ferguson after he retires." James said happily and continued talking.

"What are you thinking?" ask David.

"I will make it an Honorary Board 'Honorary Board' and earn an annual salary for his retirement for what he has done for Manchester United over the years, although he will have nothing to do with the club's decision, at least he can give us a lot of useful input." James said calmly.

David thought for a moment and said, "I think it makes sense, in addition to appreciating his services we will also gain a sense of belonging for Manchester United and attract a lot of confidence from our fans."

"Then we will discuss many other things in the future. Maybe at the beginning we will not be too busy, but the next seasons we will be very, very busy. You must be strong David. We have reached my new home" James said.

"So are you James, strengthen yourself" said David.

"Thank you Jimmy." they got out of the car and said simultaneously.

"It's my job, Mr. Packer and Mr. May." Jimmy didn't want to interrupt and left immediately.
