“It turns out that the night sky is filled with stars, not as beautiful as what people always talk about,” I said as I stared at the ceiling of Grandpa's hut which was wide open because it was hit by a fallen tree earlier this afternoon.
“what because at this time, I saw it in this old hut huh?”
I could only continue to watch the night sky pass through the cleft of the ceiling that directly led to the outside of it. The stars in the sky were blocked by the view of the hollow roof.
Swoosh~
“Brr, damn cold,” me complained while trying to add a layer of blankets made of wild animal fur, “why should there be trees that hit this house in winter, Argh!!!” I still keep grumbling.
The winter wind really makes the night worse than the previous nights. Luckily the snow is not currently falling, if it is now snowing. Maybe I'll be buried in a pile of snow.
After the departure of Grandpa. I just spent my days searching for firewood and also hunting in the forest.
Before Grandpa died, he taught me how to survive in this forest so that I could keep my life. But still, now I don't know what to do next other than to wait for my death here.
I looked around Grandpa's little house.
“It turns out this is what people mean when they say if the house will feel lonely when we lose someone,” I finally understand the meaning of the sentence. No matter how small the house you have, it will still leave traces of people who are or have lived there.
Like the only table in this house that grandfather always used to read late, he would continue to read various types of books from the shelves he placed next to his desk, and when he was tired, he immediately lay down beside the table with a piece of cloth that he knitted himself.
“Book, huh?”
Grandpa has a lot of books, but unfortunately, Grandpa hasn't been able to teach me how to read and write. So I had no choice but to pensively myself every night.
I let out a long sigh. “dayally I .. Could-be I was dumped in the middle of the forest when I was just born and was instead cared for by my dying old grandfather.”
Not that I am not grateful, just thinking of my plight unfortunately this makes me powerless not to complain.
I looked back at the hollow ceiling with a feeling of sadness because I had to be left alone in the forest. I can only hope that a miracle will come to me at a time like this.
God either listened to me or not, but after I said that. Suddenly there was a shooting star flying through the crack open in the ceiling.
“Oh, oh, shooting star! Quick, have to make a wish” I immediately closed my eyes.
I .m starting to shake my head. ”Ergh, I really don't know what I should beg.”
Not knowing what to ask for, I opened my eyes again and looked around. I don't know why I'm interested in bookshelves that have been filled with dust because no one has touched them for a long time.
'Right, maybe that's the thing I need right now.'
As soon as I saw grandfather's bookshelf, I immediately made a wish.
”O Lord, god, or whoever you are listening to my request. Please, please give me the ability to read so that I can find my next life purpose.”
After I finished making the plea, I looked back at the night sky from behind the opening.
“Heh, where perhaps my prayers will come to pass.”
Either because I was too tired after hunting and searching for firewood all day, or because it was late at night. My eyes felt so heavy that they closed on their own.
...----------------...
In the middle of my sleep, I felt a warm feeling enveloping my body. The feeling slowly began to spread from my legs to my head.
All the warm feelings I felt just now suddenly gathered in my eye area. Therefore I could feel my eyes starting to feel like they were burning by a very hot fire that made me squirm in pain.
“Argh!!” I woke up from my sleep.
Wait ... Sleep? I checked every inch of my body from head to toe. Obviously I really felt myself being burned by a terrible fire, and now why am I sitting on my bed?
“Actually that was what?”
I kept wondering about what I had just experienced, but still I couldn't think of a single answer to my question.
“Next to sleep now."
Not wanting to bother, I finally tried to fall back asleep.
But when I was trying to fall back asleep. Suddenly there was a strong wind coming in through the vents and the ceiling was wide open. The wind made the goods and books on my grandfather's shelf began to fall and made the dust start flying around my room.
Uhuk, Uhuk, Uhuk
The flying dust began to fill my chest, making me cough uncontrollably. I woke up and tried to sit for a while.
“Basic of the goddamn wind!” my sift.
After calming down a bit, I tried to clean my bed a little. Let the others I clean tomorrow I thought. But when I was about to lie down again, I accidentally saw a dark blue book lying next to me
“Magic in everyday activities, huh?” I said after reading the title of the book.
I laid back my body and immediately closed my eyes without thinking about the awkwardness that was happening.
“I read?!” I opened my eyes quickly.
After waking up to the strangeness that just happened. I got back to my feet when I realized that I had just read a book on the cover.
In disbelief, confusion and joy, I tried to pick up the book and started to open the first page.
“So this is what has been in the book ..” I slowly read page after page of the book at a speed that continues to increase slowly.
“What is this so-called fairy tale book?” my murmur was full of curiosity, ”What grandfather, did not have time to give this book to me?”
I remember very well that Grandpa once promised that he would buy me a fairy tale book when I was 8 years old.
“Eh, not rich,” I said doubtfully.
I doubt if grandfather, had bought a fairy tale book considering he fell ill 6 months before my birthday, then died 5 months later.
“But, instead of that fairy tale book filled with images that even a child could understand huh?”
After flipping through the pages in the book. I couldn't find the picture of the children Grandpa was talking about, instead I just saw a circle symbol with a variety of patterns on almost every page.
Judging from anywhere, I don't think children will be able to understand every pattern in the book.
“Well, who cares,” I said.
Regardless of what book I was holding at the moment, I began to read each page enthusiastically as if it were someone telling me. I don't want to sleep now, I'm afraid this miracle just disappears if I fall asleep.
The cold night that I had felt before I closed my eyes suddenly turned into a very warm and pleasant night, I never thought that reading could be so pleasant.
